JSB .177 13.4 gr Pellets

I bought a couple 400 count tins of the above described pellets. Just out of boredom, I started running them through my trusty PelletGage, and I'm surprised at how consistent they are. 200-something pellets into this effort, and I've yet to find one < 4.49 or > 4.51. Just for laughs, I opened the second tin, bought from a different vendor at a different time, started checking them, and found the same result. Anyone else have a similar experience with these pellets. BTW, they all shoot just fine.

Head sizes seem pretty consistent, IF you can get the size your barrel likes? You are good, I’m with Chas. My poly barrels in my RAW’s like the larger head size, BUT ALSO LIKE A CERTAIN SKIRT SHAPE ( die # or lot ) even more for EXTREME ACCURACY!, takes lots of patience & time (and AIR!) to determine this good luck, have fun (also make sure u weight them) but more time shooting the better u know your equipment!

I to have gone to the re-designed 13,34 .177jsb's I have tried to find 10.34's for the last year that had a .452 head with little success from many different vendors!! I have found that I have lost very little in my trajectory with the weight gain also as I shoot field target . Both of my Air Arms rifles shoot best with 4.52 head size and I find on average only 15 to 20 are 4.51 and the rest are all 4.52 in all of the tins I have sorted (about 20 tins so far) I have sorted over 10,000 10.34's and only found about 300 that were 4.52 with the majority being 4.49 and 4.50!! I don't know why the put the head size on the tin if there Q/C is no better than that!! Hope the 13.34's stay like that!! J.L.

my poly barrel loves air arms 10.3s and as well jsb 10.3s but its all down to lot numbers.

my raw air rifle is so accurate I can tell what lot numbers are best.

the 13,4s cant hold a candle past 50 yards... the air arms 10.3 is astounding at 50 yards and beyond.match accurate

the jsb 10.3s no mater what lot number I try so far cant keep with the above air arms.

my lw 12 grove barrel loves 10.6 barracuda match 4.52 match accurate at 50 yards.. more accurate than any jsb 13.4s iver tried.

last but not least the jsb 13.4 at 25 meters is sickly accurate at 25 meters out of the poly barrel.

so in saying all this ive found that its all about finding the right pellet for the range you shoot at.

my rifle is the raw bm500 .177

RedCrow, I shoot the JSB 10.3 pellets out of my TM for field target. They are very accurate, but not as crazy accurate at 25M as the 13.4's. I've tried the new 13.4's and they are not as accurate in my barrel.

nomojo65, you are right on. I just found out that there are different skirt sizes for the 13.4's. I've found a lot that has the skirt size my barrel likes. The accuracy is amazing.

Half (maybe more?) of accuracy is finding the right pellet for your barrel!

Chas

Chas, yes I’m sure if you’ve looked @ the skirt inner profile from the back straight on you can see a DISTINCT difference! ( you know what I mean...) don’t know if this is a DIE change, WEAR, LOT#,etc. but its there and my POLY LW LIKES A CERTAIN ONE!, I mean REALLY LIKES... I’m not saying anymore cause don’t want my competitors having any more of an advantage ( not that it matters!) I also agree that my personal experience is the 10.3’s overall seem to be more consistent lot to lot, my 12 groove LW loves these! I honestly believe that the 10.3’s out of the 12 groove are more accurate than 13.4’s out of my poly barrels? But like I’ve said before I truly have an exceptionally good 12 groove LW...

My old AZ Rapid literally preferred CPHP's out to 100 yards. Majority of them in 1/2" groups. Past that JSB 15-18 grains.

I haven't tried any .22 JSB lower than 15.9 but I save them for past 50 yards.

The new heavy .25 & 33 grain .22's? A fellow here gave me a tin each but until my regulator in Rainstorm dies, 29ftlbs isn't good enough past 25 yards for them.

Oh Sheesh. It's 4am. Baby just woke me. Topic is 13.43 cylindrical .177's JSB's. AWESOME in my highly tuned Discovery. I mean taking Sparrows off lines at 110 yards awesome.
