JSAR Raptor

I have been in contact with Huma over the past couple of days about getting a Raptor regulator designed and possibly put into production. I am hoping for a regulator drop down block design like the Brocock Sniper HR/XR This would move weight rearward and look cleaner as well. Huma said they will be redesigning their current bottle reg soon and might design a thread adapter for the paintball style regs. I am going see about blueprinting the drop down block in the next couple days, unless someone already has and would like to provide it. I am going to run this by the guys at JSAR too. Huma said that the amount of interest will be determinate of if it goes into production. So anyone with a Raptor or Flex (pretty sure they would be the same) Edit: They are not the same, Thanks Scott, drop them a line and let them know you would be interested. Also along these lines I feel like a drop down block regulator that would work for the Raptor would also work for a bottle conversion for Mauraders, Edit: Wrong again, but I would need more info on the Mauraders. Any info or pics anyone wants to post in relation would be greatly appreciated and if anyone would rather message me I can incorporate any info to the post.

Have BOTH a WAR and JSAR rifle & a Bottled M-rod too. ALL use drop blocks and Ninja type regulator ( Actually Adjustable Ninja Regs ) which I've replaced the internal seats with PEEK. They offer on the fly pressure adjustments, rock solid stable, easily serviced when needed and a no fuss operation. The tad extra length and aesthetics don't mien squat to me.

IMO ALL the exoskeleton bare bone drop block guns are butt ugly ... Function over form 100% !!!

K.I.S.S. wins the day and frankly see no market from what your proposing ... Sorry.

The new Huma reg blocks on the Brocock Sniper XR are externally adjustable. That said, I don't find myself adjusting the reg after I get it set where I want it. Perhaps I am alone in that, and maybe the ultra adjustability of the Raptor is lost on me, but for me I am only looking for the most accurate 75ftlb .30 and 15ftlb .177 with pellets I can get. I tend to find the one thing that works and stick with it. As far as aesthetics, everyone has their own taste. Those are just mine.

Well a Big Monkey is a whole lot stronger than i am, so i guess ill never get it tight enough unless i use some kind of big cheater or something. Wish i had never heard of JSAR waited over 6 months and can't find out hardly anything about them other than their selling them. Knew i should of canceled order and bought a Wildcat or whatever. O well thats life.

They are NOT the same in quite a few areas ...

WAR guns the drop block was Threaded onto air tube same as a Marauders filler cap does & same threading too.

JSAR guns are a slip fit with 3 radial spaced 5mm socket head screws securing the block to tube.

* also JSAR block has a machined area for the bottom rail attachment & contain a bleed vent.

NEITHER has a regulator pin valve depressing stub requiring any "Ninja Type" regulator have its pin valve removed.

I guess I should better explain what I am trying to accomplish. I have a Raptor and it has the adjustable ninja reg and the 350cc tank. My reg creeps 200-300 or so psi over night but also the reg pressure will drop as the tank pressure drops and it refreshes to a lower pressure than what is set at when shooting. For example I have my reg set to 1650. After a few shots it will only reset to 1500, and overnight it will rise to 1800. I don't know for sure since this is my first bout with a ninja reg, but I am pretty confident it needs a rebuild. I have a kit on the way. I am fully aware that my reg is probably not operating at 100% and my opinion on how well it works will likely change after a rebuild. It may also need new springs, but again I am not certain about that. The way my Raptor is set up, and this may be the same for all Raptors and not specific to how mine is setup, but the difference in a few hundred psi, equates to 50-70 fps in .30. This may not be a big deal to some, but it is to me. Thats almost an inch poi difference at 50 yards, which in and of itself is not that big of a deal when just out shooting groups, but if I am hunting and my first shot is off by that much at that range, it is the difference in a miss, a hit or a maim especially on larger quarry.

I have had other guns with Huma regs and they have always been top notch, and manufacturers are now including them in a lot of the new guns and Huma is steadily increasing the styles and fitments they offer. The new Brocock bottle guns have a drop down block with the reg built in that is externally adjustable. I like this design and would like to have one on my Raptor. For me it would accomplish 2 things; moving the weight of the bottle back a few inches and changing how the gun looks. I understand these are small changes and while looks are subjective, I do think having the bottle right up against the body of the gun instead of 3-4" out would look "cleaner", i.e. less open space between the barrel and the top of the bottle and the line from the bottom of the forearm would continue to the bottom line of the bottle with almost no break. I think it would look even better if the front of the forearm were to taper off matching the curve of the neck of the bottle. Now on top of those things I also think that the huma reg would be a bit more consistent and need rebuilding less as they are specifically designed and engineered for pcp applications, whereas the ninja regs were adapted from the paintball arena.

For me, the Raptor is a platform. It is a base that can be built upon and changed to suit each individual and this is just one of the changes that I would like to make to have it suit me. If this is a change that others would also like to make, then I encourage you to let Huma know you are interested. Thats all I am trying to say here.
