"Raptor" somehow seems a very odd name to select.

John

Raptor: Species of bird that primarily hunt and feed on vertebrates that are large relative to the hunter. Additionally, they have keen eyesight for detecting food at a distance or during flight, strong feet equipped with talons for grasping or killing prey, and powerful, curved beaks for tearing flesh. The term raptor is derived from the Latin word rapio, meaning to seize or take by force.

Sounds pretty cool to me.

Email this morning from JSAR on new things. Here's the Raptor part.

"Oh, and did we mention that we've started taking pre-orders on our new Raptor? The JSAR Raptor is an American made mid-price point gun that is packed with options and power. We started with a billet aluminum side-lever breech, combined that with caliber-interchangeable Lothar-Walther 5/8" OD barrels. That's right, 5 set screws and you can caliber swap your Raptor in less than 5 minutes. We also installed the latest version of our SS Balanced valve which gives great power and performance, while also allowing a very easy cocking action. Our match grade trigger assembly has 4 adjustments so you can adjust the 1st stage length, sear overlap, 2nd stage spring tension, and front/back trigger blade location. The guns also come with our newly developed and patent pending externally adjustable regulator, which is attached to a 4500psi 500mL carbon bottle.

We're offering the guns in all standard calibers from .177 up to .30, and due to increased demand, we'll also be offering a .257. The guns use an FX style billet rotary magazine, except the .257 will use a 3 shot stick magazine due to the length of the NSA slugs. The guns can be ordered choked, or unchoked. We'll be using a TJ's barrel for the .257 and the .30 cal. The lower picatinny rail is machined with 3 spare magazine slots so you can load up in the morning shoot to your heart's content. Head over to the site and check it out, the guns start at $1149 and include a hard case."

Here's a little more info😀

I also believe a video is due out soon👍,I can't wait.

It has nothing to do with a marauder in any way and no part from a marauder can be used on this pcp. The Raptor is it's own design .(some info from jsar in an email they sent me)

That is not entirely true ... as with the original R&D done on the early WAR Warp & Flex the WAR valve itself was based off the MARAUDER dimensions and there for was usable inside any of the 3 platforms.

I have worked with Travis W doing R&D support for many years now and just recently spent 2 days with the Jefferson State crew at the Placerville AG show. I asked matter of fact if the new balanced valve is proprietary to the RAPTOR or if a different valve from the M-rod / WAR design .... was told it is by outward size and fit it's THE SAME.

**When machined however, transfer size and diameter of the transfer tubes do differ pending application and may or may not work as direct swaps between guns tubes this valve will fit into & secure via the 3 radial 10-32 screws.

Tho conversation did come up that a work around is in place so larger calibers & diameter barrels can be fit into the receiver by having a double stacked receiver that places the 4-40 screws holding the base plate down & upper half screws to the base plate utilizing a wider screw placement giving clearance for more barrel diameter to past threw the receiver. Same valve tho.

Right right.

Raptor airgun ammo, the original ( modern ) "1,000fps" hype pellet. And the first 3 pages of google - Raptor airgun - on my browser pulled up 3+ pages of Gamo Raptor and not another thing.

I DO want to shoot on no matter the name but yes it does seem a very odd name selection to me from a business point of view.

I'm not gonna argue the semantics of it as that's the info Travis sent me in an email.I do know I'll be ordering one soon .I purchased my flex used and love it.I have supported WAR through extras like mags, adapters and baffles .I will likely order a barrel kit in the future.Im all for USA made over imports so the raptor is right up my alley .👍

I’m picking up what you’re putting down now. Didn’t know about that other crap. I try to stay clear of it and keep from tracking it in the house.

No matter the name it sounds like some very good R&D have went into this rifle!

I'm definitely going to look into this platform as a dedicated slug shooter in .25 cal.

And I think the price point is going to make it a real winner especially being made right here.... Mark up on some of the high end guns these days is ridiculous!!!! It might not be as pretty but performance wise it sounds to be superior in a lot of ways.

James from Michigan,

I'm also a big fan of supporting the USA made guys and think this will be a winner. The first of the mid priced USA guns and think it'll get into the hands of others more so than the other offerings due to the much lower price but with tons of features.

Now that being said my plan is to eventually have one of all the USA made guns (minus Thomas and Mac1 not at target shooter).

Have a WAR Flex .30 which is just awesome. Have a AAA EVOL Tac .22 (non HP) on order which can't wait to get that one. Then hopefully a .177 JSAR Raptor tuned for slugs and then a RAW probably in .20 cal unless I can find a Rapid .20 that would be even better!

With a kid on the way though I don't see it happening anytime soon though lol

👆🏼This got me a negative on accuracy. Although what I said was true. Just another example of not using the accuracy rating correctly. Someone needs to grow thicker skin. I recommend being seen by your gynecologist as I suspect a yeast infection may be contributing to irritability.
