JAPAN Crimson Trace 5 this time $699 for $1799.99 scope!

Yes, it looks like a great reticle on the one referenced in the OP.

Odoyle,

Please, if you have time, compare in practical terms this CT Series-5 to the baseline standard Alpha-6 we have all come to love.

Thanks!

The Crimson Trace 5 is superior there's no comparison the difference in Chinese VS Japan glass (well with the exception of Japan SWFA their glass aren't that good even coming from Japan).

You need a $2000 Nightforce NX8 or $2700 March-F to see a noticeable difference in glass VS Crimson Trace 5.

The cheaper Crimson Trace 3 series on the other hand is like competing with the $1499 Element Nexus price point in regards to glass. Going back and fourth with the entry level cheap Nightforce SHV the glass on the SHV looks a little nicer to me but no way you won't ever get the Nightforce SHV as cheap as the Crimson Trace 3.

The Tract Toric and Athlon Cronus are nicer than the 3 series pretty noticeable but compared to the 5 series only a little nicer than the 5. The Nightforce NX8 and March are noticeably nicer than the CT5 series but there's a massive price difference.

Just remember you are buying Japan scopes that cost $1999 or $1799 or $1199 for $450 to $699 to $799.

The sheer equity on dollar spent to goods received ratio favors the buyer vs buying Chinese scopes at regular price.

There's no Chinese scopes than can match Japan made scopes in optical greatness (Except SWFA isn't that good such is the only exception IMHO)

ONLY push scopes that are CLEAR and offer the best value for dollar spent.

I don't push scopes I really like such as March and Nightforce and Kahles because I don't think they are actually worth the money spent after going through a ridiculous amount of much cheaper priced Japan made scopes the sheer cost of the Tier1 scopes buy them only if you have the cash to blow.

Too bad the Athlon Cronus doesn't focus down to 10 yards. If it did it might even be worth paying $1799 MAP price for it. Highly recommended for $1000 or just under on clearance though.

The Tract Toric is worth paying full price for. Pushed them on the 10% sale in December. Unfortunately only 25 yard focus too. That's why I don't push them.

The Zeiss 4-16x50 is worth paying the DEMO PRICE and focuses down to 10 yards.

Odoyle, you mentioned this like it's an across the board fact when in truth it's only generally true - "There's no Chinese scopes than can match Japan made scopes in optical greatness" Just the fact that the SWFA doesn't compete in glass quality shows that most of the lower price Jap scopes won't either. It's because there are different tiers of glass quality and coatings like "ALL" the optical element Co's offer to Optics manufacturers.

I'd put a Chinese Athlon Ares ETR up against half the Jap glass out there, in fact I know for sure that the ETR has superior glass to these Bushnell's, the DMR, the DMR2, the Elite 3-12x44, as well as the equivalent 6-24.

Also the ETR totally destroys the Philippine made Burris XTR2 line, just saying.

I think the 5 series glass is probably better than the ETR, but I highly doubt the 3 series is??!!

☝️ This I did and I would agree. Comparing my ETR to The Tract Toric, Trijicon Tenmile, Burris XTR III and the Hawke Frontier 30FFP (just for grins because Odoyle said is was good 😁). The ETR won and the Burris XTR III was it's closest equal costing 50% more. Mind you, these are all very good scopes and very close optically.

I am very curious about this CT5 for $699... Ordered.
