I\'ve been watching the forums for a few years

Both forums are good. This forum is great if you are a FX guy. This forum has some guys with great knowledge and some float back and forth between forums. Some don't. If you are going to build a gun, GTA is where you will get the most help and input. I have noticed that sometimes this forum has more interesting stuff going on and then next month GTA is holding my interest. If you are a smart seasoned airgunner, you use both forums. Don't be a fanboy of any gun manufacturer and don't be a fanboy of one forum. You will be selling yourself short.

I started out in GTA, and still visit the site regularly. Like others, I find the multiplication of gates, and gates within gates, unappealing. That said, folks on that site have been very helpful over the years, especially for people just getting into the sport. The reason some might still prefer Gateway is that AN can seem a little FX-centric. That's no one's fault. I gather FX makes fine airguns, with lots of doodads and options to mess with, and that gives people lots to discuss.

If you watch the view counters, there is more traffic on GTA. I suspect it has to do with the more inclusive nature of GTA. You can be a fan of big box store springers or the old classic Benji pumpers, or you can be the engineering wonder who is designing and machining airguns from billet, and still have a ball on GTA.

AGN seems more directed at and frequented by the high-end ($$$) section of the market.

Neither mindset/scenario is bad, just how it is.

Honestly., I might be a bonehead, and am missing something.... But the arrangement of posts on this site drives me nuts. I don't see much rhyme or reason, beside the overall trend being that posts get flooded out by new ones in relation to their date of posting. But sometimes there are exceptions? I've had multiple threads on here that were mine, and I've missed replies by weeks or months because I never saw the reply, as my post was burried so deeply.

I once left a negative feedback on someone that sold me a gun. Gun came very ill packaged, paint chipped, Magazine missing, & a malfunctioning EdMu gauge.

I was instantly raked over the coals! Treated like a scumbag by lots of users there. Then the thread was locked down by the mods just to protect the seller’s true character from being revealed. Subsequently the A-hole that sold me the gun now owns the site. Let’s just say I don’t have a good impression of the place.

I know there are tons of folk there with massive knowledge and a great amount of info available. But based on my experience, I will not partake there ever.

For general discussion this is the forum to go to. But if you need specific information about a particular rifle or problem with one GTA is much better because of their specific airgun gates.

Airgun Nation is geared to general discussion and the darkside of airguns PCP. If you shoot Springer's you need to be on GTA it's much easier to get into a Springer discussion.

Funny. I've had the experience of being raked over the coals here. Never on GTA.

Try & leave bad feedback to one of it’s darlings. Anyway, that was my personal experience, and not a pissing contest. I’m not big into posting my dirty laundry where it doesn’t belong. I have had a very good experience here, that’s not to say that I have never encountered an unsavory character, or two. I feel that Michael runs this site with the upmost integrity.

Better high end PCP advice here, broader range of topics at GTA. There are some questionable decisions and changes going on at GTA from a new owner who clearly loves airguns but doesn’t have much of a track record of sticking with anything long term. I’m worried that propensity could negatively impact that great forum. And this forum has a few quirks that the owner seems nonchalant in ignoring feedback on. Seems like a nice guy but seems content to not make improvements.

I joined AGN a few years back after getting back into air rifles to learn and alike share my information to help other members. You are free here to discuss any air rifle topics you like hopefully without putting others choices and directions down. I know I have my favorite rifles and ways I shoot but know for one thing am not a boy or " fan boy " which is a negative put down we should not be using. Bill
