My FX Impact "X" The mods have begun! "Camera Mount!" pg. 4

I just got my Adapter from DonnyFL for the Shogun LDC And man this thing is awesome!
Although the FX stackable moderator was good. the DonnyFL Shogun makes it even quieter .

Now I just need my FX No limit rings to come in!

I'm thinking about ordering the MTC ViperPro. I think that will be the scope for this gun!
Don't get me wrong the SWFA 12x Is a good scope. But I think I want to be able to just dail the scope to certain yardages, rather than hold over.

"MonsterMaxx"I luv my .30 Impact. I call 'er "Thumper"
I have a set of nolimit rings I'm not using. They are brand new, only mounted by AOA and taken off. too tall for me. PM me if you want....now where did I put those darn things???

If you find them Let Bob_O have them if he wants. I just got off the phone with Trevor at Utah AG to order my MTC Viper Pro. They're sending it with the rest of my order to save on Shipping. So I'm in no rush.

Thank you for the offer!

Have a great day!

Well I finally got a cheap set of high scope rings for my Impact. (I'm still waiting on my MTC VP and FX no limit rings)
So for now I had a chance to go out and shoot it at 25 yrds. using my SWFA 12x SS.
The Impact is good. But not as good as I was hoping for. (May be my expectations were too high?)

The Impact shoots 18.13 JSB on Min. setting @ 770fps, and on Max setting 910fps. using only the power wheel. I just leave the valve adjustment alone. (Some reason my valve adjuster has the lines but it's not painted white?) For an old guy like me that a real pain! May be they forgot???

My impression of the Impact is that it's unrefined feeling takes a bit of getting use to.
Shooting it set @ Min. the sound of the hammer firing in the Impact, is much louder than my prod. (Both are running the Shogun LDC) Even with no air in the gun the hammer is louder.

My Prod is shooting at 670 fps using H&N FT 14.66 gr.

Both guns are capable of shooting pellet on pellet at 25 yrds. (no suprises there.) The Prod has fliers about every 7 or 8 pellets. The Impact doesn't have any fliers.

My feeling so far is that the impact won't replace my Prod for pesting 40 yards or less. (The Prod does that job too well to be replaced.)

The Impact is like driving a Race car. Built for performance not comfort. The Prod feels more refined and a pleasant to shoot.

We'll have to see about longer range shots. When I can really take her out and put her through her paces. (This is where I know the Prod would be useless)

I was sort of hoping that the Impact would have been the one gun to replace all others in my cabinet. But it seems the Prod isn't going anywhere, anytime soon!

I know the Prod can't touch the Impact for FPE and shot count. But for a budget gun I really like it! (Well I spent almost $1200 building it)

I'm dying to see what the impact can do with the H&N Piledrivers. Hopefully those will be here by next week. The Impact has a 1:18 twist rate hopefully that will be ok for slugs?

"toku58"Few thing I've done or added to the gun.
Scope is SWFA 12x42 SS.
FX Decal on the bottle
Green Blob bipod. (3 washer/o-ring mod)
Anti cant scope level.
A picatinny rail QD sling mount.

Now I'm building a Sports camera prism mount.
Got the universal camera mount from Ebay Cut the insert tube about 3/4" and made pvc shims to mount the prism. The scope mount can do both mount my phone or mount the Sports camera. With the sports camera it will work like a poor mans "Side Shot" where I can still shoot it like a regular scope.

I'm still waiting on my 4k sports camera to come in from Amazon.
But so far I've spent about $70 for this set up. Not bad considering that it can do both phone and Go Pro type of camera.
Well I let you guys know how it turns out!
Happy Shooting!
It looks very nice.
And I think you need a new phone. LOL

What is the brand/name of the square prism you have and where did you buy it from? I'm interested in getting one myself for a project as well but can't seem to find them. Thanks!
Not sure what the brand is. But I ordered it off Aliexpress Ebay has them as well. It's sold for Paintball and airsoft.

The problem I came across is similar to what "Hajimoto" was having. Most sports cameras do not have the ability to zoom. so the image is very small when recording with a Gopro type of camera.

I'm ordering the Gopro Sessions 5, and I found a zoom lens attachment for it. I'll see how that works. But for now it seems like the smart phone is the best option.

If you do not remember the brand name, can you provide the seller's name? That would help.

Thanks,

kmd I'll look for the link to the place I got it from, and post it up.

So far I got the Gopro Hero5 Sessions 5 and it seems to be a no go because you need a camera that has a zoom function if you don't want to do a lot of editing.
I was even going to use a cell phone. But I sort of gave up (figured if I'm going with a cell phone?) Why re-invent the wheel, and ordered a SideShot from UA.

I'll keep tinkering to see what can be done with the GoPro. I have a zoom lens on order for the GoPro. But I'm not 100% convinced that it will work better than the SideShot? We'll see?

"kmd I’ll look for the link to the place I got it from, and post it up."

Thanks.

I had a GoPro Hero 4 and an extra lens lying around, so I decided to mess with it a little bit. : ) I removed the IR filter from the extra lens and then mounted it to the GoPro. I have a night vision capable GoPro now! The mod was really simple. The IR filter is just a piece of "red" glass that I had to remove, and changing the lens is also really simple on the GoPro 4. With the LCD bacpak (or whatever GoPro calls it) I can totally see in the dark. Remember though, you need an IR source. Anyhow, I then tried to mount it on my scope but ran into the same issue. Since you cannot zoom in, the screen is just too small to really see what the scope sees.

I did the same thing with an older cell phone once, and it totally worked. You can buy extra camera lenses for $5 bucks off eBay...

Yeah, I thought about the SideShot mount as well, but decided to wait and get the ATN X-Sight 4k Pro instead. The feature I "need" the most is not recording, it is ballistics calculations. I often change the power settings on my Bobcat Mk2, including what pellet I use, depending on where I shoot. Having to "re-zero" my damn scope every single time gets on my nerves. I already use the MTC Viper Pro, which makes it somewhat easier, but still, having the ATN X-Sights with build in ballistics calculator in combination with different "gun" or "ammo" profiles would be great. I say would, becasue I do not have the ATN yet. Waiting for the new laser rangefinder to coem out...

Thanks,

Kmd

I'm considering the ATN myself but I'd like to see more run time on the new unit to see if actually lives up to their claims.
I'm currently awaiting my MTC Viper Pro to come in. I get what you're saying about the changing power and ammo deal. (I too want a versatile gun that can quickly change to suit my needs) I think we may be chasing the "Holy Grail" LMAO!

Not sure if this is the exact seller I got it from? Don't know really how to navigate AliExpress yet. But this is the prism

From what I have seen, the new ATN X-Sight 4k Pro seems to work great. At least when it comes to image quality and night vision. Like I said, I am waiting to hear more about their new laser range finder... Once I see some positive feedback, I am going to get one for sure.

I own the MTC Viper Pro and I am not too happy with it. I will send you a PM within the next few days explaining why. : )

Thanks,

Kmd
