It's a SAD day in the Neighborhood, a really sad day in the neighborhood....

It is all good in the hood as they say fellas. I have definitely thought of all these things mentioned above and will not be doing anything rash. We have a modest home, but have been fixing it up little by little, with quite a lot still to go, and I am not planning on moving for now. I used to live in 5 acres in a town that was 1hr from my hospital (work) on a good day. Took me 2 hours if someone hickuped along the way. For a little while I had taken a part time job at the local hospital over there and told my wife that I would rather die on the way to the city for treatment than to be taken there (yeah, I quit too) Moved to S. FL. for not quite two years and then back to my current situation, we have fine healthcare all around and tons of amenities.

I'm thinking of either getting some land that I can go to at some point, or just wait till retire and do the RV thing and travel the USA. But if moving is in the books I think Tennessee, N. Carolina, or Utah would be on top of the list (not entirely in that order) Thanks for all the love and support! Every Little Thing...Gonna be Alright, Don't Worry.....(BM)

I feel your pain. I had several acres of field behind my house for years. I kept my shots to the back yard, but it was nice knowing that there was nothing I could hit if a shot went a bit farther than my property line. Then the city decided to put a residential/business COMPLEX in the area, taking out the entire field. Where there was nothing is now a 4-story apartment-business complex less than 50 yards from the property line. I have a 6' privacy fence, but the people in the top floors can still see right into my back yard. I'm sure they would LOVE to call the police on me stating there is a man with a rifle shooting at their apartment building (rolls eyes).

Now my shooting is limited to my basement or my dad's house where there is plenty of land and a LARGE grove of trees between him and his neighbors.

Progress sometimes sucks.

I kind of know what you mean I live in a fairly populated area but used to have an good sized empty lot behind me and another across the street as well. I used to shoot my airguns in both of these places. Then they rebuilt the vacant destroyed house behind me and later built a 58 plex across the street. ;^( The neighborhood suffered greatly when the plex was built drugs, vandalism and theft have been the norm ever since. Add the city and county laws that prohibit shooting airguns anywhere and I have been wanting to move for the last ten years. Looks like I will finally be able to next year. There are even places in the county that you can shoot shotguns but not airguns.

I feel your pain. When I was much younger I used to live outside of Baltimore and had a place that was around a mile and a half wide buy 3 miles long that I used to hunt and they tore out every bit of those woods to build an industrial park. So I found another place which was a couple miles down the road which was probably around 3 miles wide and 5 miles long and hunted there for years until they tore it all out and build a shopping mall and a housing development behind the mall.I eventually moved back to Pennsylvania in the mountains and have lived here 12 years and I’ve only seen two houses built in around 25 Square miles. This area hasn’t changed much since the early 60s.
