Issues with Colibri

Got an issue with my Colibri Hummingbird...

Couple of weeks ago I noticed when I shot it, I got a blast of air in my right eye. Odd! My cheek rests in a position so that the mag is directly beside/below my right eye. The blast of air was coming from the mag area. Did it a couple of times so I put it up. Thought I might send it back to Ernest and have him look at it, plus do any new mods or tunes he's currently doing to the Colibri's but I've been busy so I didn't get around to emailing him.

Anyway, today the squirrels we're terrorizing the place so I got it out and first shot, same thing as before, blast of air which btw makes a fairly loud POP! in my ear... second shot and it wouldn't index the next pellet. Now I'm like WTF! Took the mag out and noticed the rod that pushes the pellet into the gun wasn't going all the way inside. I looked at the cocking lever and noticed that it was a little more than a quarter inch from pushing all the way forward. I put the mag back in and pushed the lever all the way forward. It stopped in the same spot...short of all the way forward.

I pushed with a little more force than I'm used to using. It closed fully and shot and again... blast of air in the eye and POP. Second shot, indexed next pellet, no blast of air. Normal quiet. Third shot, blast of air in the eye and POP!

One last notable issue is that the past few months I've taken it out and shot it, when I fire, it blows the cocking lever back open a little after firing. Not all the way but blows it open halfway or less. Anybody else had this issue and is it something I should try to fix or should I just send it to Ernest and have her retuned? Suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I think nearly everyone that has owned a Colibri has had similar problems. When I first got mine new, it worked perfect for over a year, then issues. One was air blast, like you say. Sent it Ernest, he fixed it, functioned perfect for a probably another year, then I screwed something up while increasing power. Back to Ernest. Worked great, then recently it was not indexing perfect every time. Otherwise, fine. I just took the indexing parts out and index mine manually. I will sent it Ernest after huntin season is over. I really like mine , the most accurate , quietest, & best carry rifle ever, I own. But they can have some quirks.

Look like the cocking rod loosened, that will make the stroke longer so unable to close probe fully to have proper seal with breech/probe oring.

the rear rod is connected to a inner piston within the probe, so it’s normal to have play with the cocking handle when fired.

that play will hit a spring loaded stop pin, that pin prevent the pellet probe from blowing back when fire,

cocking the inner piston will push the locking pin down so the pellet probe can be push back into position to load the next pellet when you close the cock handle.

its tricky to adjust If not done right you will end up breaking the rod if to short.

I’ll will adjust with no cost, if you unable to correct the issue. Apply to all Colibri I have work on! 💪🏾

Thanks guys. Ernest...you are the man! Sounds like it's time to send it back to you. I'll email you this afternoon at some point. It's something I'd like to learn how to do on my own but not knowing exactly what to do and how to do it, I don't want to screw something up. Ernest, I'm definitely not interested in getting something for free, so you just let me know what you need from me when you get my email. Thanks again for responding!
