(There) Is there an App for that. (update, got 1)

Absolutely. I downloaded 'dbmeter Pro' a few years ago from the apple store. I don't recall if it was free but if not it was cheap, at least then. It works if you plat with the settings to get get realistic comparative results. Like before and after LDC install. It doesn't record results (or my version doesn't) so sitting down range is always iffy. Not sure I can get to it in time to know the high/low readings are from my test or from some other random noise. There are other apps.

I have tried "Sound Meter". Seems to word ok for the limited amount I have used it. It was free.

I looked too. I couldn't find the same app I mentioned but there are some cheaper than what you grabbed. If yours is similar, just take a little time to play with settings.

posted too soon.... if I set my phone downrange (had my son help me test this) It would pick up x but then me walking out to get the phone after a shot or two, it would read x+ (as the max, that's all I get), had to walk across a stome driveway. But then again it depends upon the target. If I shoot steel, thats often the loudest part so I'm probably seeing the max db including the pellet strike, So when I used it, I would shoot to the longest distance I could and into the grass to avoid the pellet strike. That was really only an issue when I was curious about sound downrange with the phone . 20-30-40 yards away, Up close, the 'comparability' between guns made sense to what I heard.

Thanks guys. @Rodeo I will grab that one too and compare. God knows I have blown $ on much worse crap in my life, so will chuck it to experience and future advice to anyone else that asks. Just tried it a bit now and getting somewhat consistent results, but not extremely repeatable. Most definitely without any moderator on the Kalibrgun I got over 101. Played around with the Tanto and the Koi and while the Koi did come in at less dB, the results I got overlapped a lot. Will test further. Will test the free one too. Thanks again both of yous.

If you want to use the app down range you could use the screen record feature on your iPhone to record the phone screen as the app is running so you could play it back afterwords.

Ohh, but my iPhone does not have that button. Do I need to add it to that screen?

Edit: Added, thanks for the tip.

Yes. If you go into settings then into the control center then into customize controls you’ll find all kinds of feature that can be added to you control center. I can’t take credit for knowing this stuff. Someone at work showed it to me one time. Had no idea what I would have used it for until I read this post.💡
