Is The Umarex Hammer A Shot Show No Show Again?

The delays on this thing are getting old. Shot Show 2017 they said look for it in the fall. Shot Show 2018 they said it will be out in September. Pyramyd Air did pre-sales and then stopped listing an in stock date. Some retailers are now pushing the date back to December 7th 2018. Shot Show 2019 is just around the corner and the Hammer could very well once again be a Umarex Shot Show No Show.

Rule of thumb: never buy a preorder. Anything which has been sold like that is under pressure (pun intended) to meet a production deadline, and so things will have been rushed. You don't want the first of any product, wait for someone else to be the space monkey. After the first run has come out, had the bugs identified, had the bugs worked out, and had the remaining inventory clear through the stockrooms THEN the product is out for you to buy. This goes from everything to space moon rockets to pocket knives and, of course, airguns.

Wish they would say IF it is cancelled. Could well still be in the works, could be the rather extreme high pressure showed ??? in testing.

On those pre-orders. In the past I would never buy a new model from 90% of the manufacturers. Note I'm leaving 10% as some companies DO release ready to go products after through testing, tho many do just release it if built- issue be damned-.

The only umarex rig I've ever had is a gauntlet. It was delayed, a reason was (eventually) given. They found issues so would NOT release themm not untill they were right. Gotta give Umerax credit for that. Itr was a first in m y mind with this level of company.

If that's what going on, thank you umarex!

It seems to me they do hold the pre-charged segment to a higher standard than the replica sthuff.

I'm now concerned about the business ethics associated with the way Umarex has marketed the Guantlet and Hammer. Say a person was going to buy a Texan or Western Big Bore in 2016 when they first started talking about the Hammer. Now lets say that same person decided not to make any purchases because the Hammer was going to be so much better. Then lets say Umarex strings that customer along for another two years. I have to wonder how much damage they're doing to the industry. To fairly compete in business I think that you need to produce a product not just promise one. Don't be surprised if Airforce releases the mother of all airguns just as Umarex finally gets around to releasing the Hammer.
