Is the FX Impact M3 worth its price?

I'm sensing a bullpup theme

I like the Uragan (that I own), have a impact on order and am eyeing up a Daystate wolverine. If the new impact doesn't outshoot the Uragan ill probably sell it to get the Daystate.

The impact is awesome but the zobria in 22 shoots amazing and mine shoots chp crazy accurate,as well as all the other pellets i have tried,just depends on how much you want to spend, there is a reason why the impact is on back order 

It depends.........from the sound of it just order one and then reconsider. You will end up with one either day or cancel if you decide not to. 

To me the easy adjustability, accuracy and cutting-edge technology of the M3, made the decision to purchase a clear one. While the price, close to $2400, with tax and shipping, is admittedly, up there, I also appreciate the flexibility of the platform, which encompasses barrel/caliber/ammo choices as well as future FX upgrades. The "buy-once, cry-once" mantra might apply to the M3, but for me it's worth it.

Most modern pcp airguns are more accurate than most shooters, even out past 100 yards. Personally I recommend asking yourself if you want to tinker and tune a gun or if you want to just shoot it. AA, Edgun, Uragan, Kalibur and others will shoot with minimal setup and tuning. FX will require a trip down the tuning rabbit hole to make it shoot like it should out of the box for a $2k+ airgun ( there are exceptions, but they are not common). I bought into the FX hype and got burned, I may have gotten a lemon ( one out of a thousand), but I have owned guns that cost far less, were just as accurate with zero issues. Good luck with your purchase.

Probably worth it but will it out shoot my atman 22 cal...highly doubt it . The m3 is so adjustable and cool that most guys will spend the extra .

Taipan Veteran Standard .22. Between the EXTREMELY adjustable, perfect trigger and the superior accuracy, whisper quiet and history of reliability, don't know what more you'd need.

It is a little heavy, but other than that, pure excellence. 

I might eventually get an RTI Prophet, just because, but I don't think it will be any more accurate or fun to shoot than the Veteran.

I agree the grub screws with sealer is a half assed "fix" for the early batch with the holes that were drilled too deep, but if they use the correct sealer it should be good for the life of the gun. Unfortunately adhesives and sealers are sensitive to cleanliness, surface prep, and workmanship... And some leaked.

The grub screw decision probably came down to "grub screws and sealer and ship the first batch next week" or "scrap this batch, order more material, machine new lowers, then send off for anodizing and etching, and ship in 6-8 weeks."

Supposedly the issue is fixed on the later production guns and if your early rifle has a leak in that spot they'll replace the lower action block with a current production version and cover shipping both ways, so they are doing the right thing if you get a leaker.

I picked up an M3 today from the classifieds (been on the waiting list at Utah for 5 weeks, and after seeing that some people who ordered in early April are still waiting for theirs I jumped on the one posted this morning) so I guess I'll be finding out soon enough if the hype is justified. I just want an adjustable platform for shooting slugs and the M3 seemed be the logical option. My current .25 edgun R5M has been a very reliable rifle like all my other edguns (the R5M is matador #6 for me), but I can't find a slug that it likes.

I do expect the M3 to need a lot more fiddling and maintenance over time compared to the edgun, there are just so many more parts and o rings in the FX design. Sure, the M3 is very tunable and almost all adjustments are externally accessible, but that comes at the cost of a high parts count and lots of o rings and spots for leaks.

I'll have a better opinion on the M3 after it gets here and I play with it for a couple weeks. Given the demand and backorder list, if I don't like it I can probably sell it quickly.

I was very leery of the impact for many months (actually 2 years) when it was first released. Too many gauges, parts, levers, dials that can all break. I've patted myself on the back many many times for my prudence.

But I have recently bought 2 used mk2 impacts. 

This .22 with a 580 cc tank and a 500mm superior liner. It stacks 20.2 grain slugs with such precision and repeated consistency, I cannot say enough good about it. 

Once you shoot 15 shot in a row at 100 yards and your still just a tiny touch over moa you know you have a winner. 

My second impact was not so easy to get shooting properly. It started as a .30 caliber. After much trial and error, I decided .30 caliber is not for me. I switched it over to .25 with a superior heavy barrel and struck gold almost immediately. 

I kid you not, the gun shoots 3/4" groups at 100 yards consistently!

I bought both guns used for a significant fraction off of what a new gun would have cost. In fact, I am dangerously close to being par with 2 mk2 impacts for the cost of what 1 m3 impact would cost. 

My advice to the OP would be. Yes, buy an impact. But get the mk2. Let other pay premium for the m3. You will be able to pick it up for 1400$ in a year from now when the m4 will be released. 

It's like any hobby and how deeply involved you are, the longevity of your interest.

Been an avid hunter/shooter since childhood and only buy what I'm going to use and can afford. 

Once you move into the inquiry phase like you have......your done. Example: just yesterday I inquired about a S510 and got excellent feedback. It got ordered this morning.

My Impact is my LEGO toy. The entire last year my shooting club was closed and just opened this month over a year and a half later. I spent all my time tinkering with my MK2 PP, disassembled probably twenty or more times, swap out parts, modded here-and-there, upgraded-downgraded, re-tuned and you call it whatever you can think of.

Today, I can close my eyes and take it down to a most smallest single part and put it together in less then an hour, range it and ready to score rings 20 to 100 in next one hour...

For me it was a well designed learning curve and I am saying it was worth every penny to me. And I am not a plinker, I practice and train for competition next time the borders open for free travel.

Honest from what I have seen from tuning, ease of use, accuracy, power... This thing is built to last (minus the always battle with O-rings, which is any gun using o-rings) This thing is a power house. If I didnt just get my Maverick like 2 months before this came out this would be top of the list. I love videos of the M3 I cannot wait to be able to get one on my gun rack. 

I’ve owned 1 FiX too many. Kinda left a bad taste. Sticking to Taipan @kalibrgun or Airgun Technology, but to each it’s own. 

For my money in that price range around $2K I would probably get the Huma regulated Daystate Wolverine since at that price I would just wan to shoot it and not have to tinker with with much. Good luck!
