is over sizing a moderator a no-no?

Through a little mixup I am 'owed' a moderator in the caliber of my choosing. I currently am shooting .25 but plan to switch guns to a .30 slug setup whenever the right one comes along. I will likely replace and then keep shooting .25 sometime soon to keep a mid range gun in my arsenal. Both guns may end up supressed at some point. The mod is the Ramus Trident.

Any reason NOT to order it in.30 and at least enjoy it on the .25 in the meantime? in other words, aside from maybe some reduction in efficiency would I suffer anything negative from shootin .25 through a .30 ldc?

I do believe if you contact Ramus directly, they can sell you new cores for the Trident. The aluminum shell/cap itself, at least on mine, appears to be correctly sized for .30 caliber even though the core is for a .22. So it is conceivable you can have your cake and eat it too for just a little extra cash, starting with a .25 and getting a .30 core should you wish to make the switch further down the road.

How much louder a mod will be because it is over-bore can vary dramatically by design, some see very little increase others lots, but I have no idea where the Trident would fall on that spectrum. Either way though it is a great design, one of my favorite production mods for sure. Lightweight, stylish, the core is at least reasonably modular, and it is pretty innovative. Definitely not just another "me too" design.
