Is it just me or this forum all about fx guns?

I have two fx rigs and a daystate. They are completely different animals. The fx is cutting edge, the daystate is classic and beautiful.

I have owned an impact for a few weeks now, I have shot a couple of thousand of pellets through it, it is a nice enough thing but I don’t think it’s “cutting edge” it works (more or less) exactly the same way as all of my other guns. Spring pushes hammer, hammer opens valve, air pushes pellet. It could be argued that the daystate with its electronic trigger and solenoid is in fact more cutting edge in a more classic configuration.

I have often heard the term “game changer” to describe the impact, personally, I can’t think of one thing the impact does better than my other guns, it’s not more accurate, not more consistent, not more efficient, not more powerful and not quieter. Yes the external adjustment of the reg is a very nice idea and I like the idea of different liners to suit different needs but I am yet to be convinced that the fx pellet liner is anymore accurate or less pellet fussy than a standard rifled barrel. (I can’t comment on slugs, I don’t shot them and never will because at the hunting ranges I shoot, pellets work just fine)

I would happily recommend an impact to anyone who wants one, I really like mine, , it has exceeded my expectations but it hasn’t/ can’t live up to the marketing hype, isn’t my favourite gun in my gun collection.

I’m with you Bb for the most part, I bought my impact because of the external adjustability and compact design ( I don’t plan on shooting 100yd BR with it ) I will mostly pest and for informal target use and I think this is where Fx has dominated? I agree with your comment on Daystate and theirs use of electronics, they are so far ahead of the other manufacturers it’s not funny, and I’ve said this for awhile now!, most shooters just don’t realize “how far ahead they are!”

FX, The Harley Davidson of the PCP world. Better put a pan under it, it leaks air. Just kidding LOL. FX makes great weapons. Don't own one, have a PROD and a couple of BSA's. Don't own a Harley either.

LOL -- my chrome bipod really helps with my POI too. Fixed my scope's POI shift with some carbon fiber wrap. A few squirrels have commented on how nice it looks :)

I do like the side lever of the FX series but the Daystate/Brocock magazines are hard to beat. I see a good mix of discussions here but FX is heavily marketed by the YouTube group almost to the point of being considered Special FX. :p

One thing I notice is that a big slew of FX conversation is usually shortly followed by a lot of FX available in the classifieds page. Take a look at how many FX Crowns are on sale just on the front page of the classifieds alone. While I appreciate their constant innovation and evolution I am not going to sip the juice. I have a Ranchero Carbine in .22 with the older ST barrel and I believe the same action as the Boss and other models of that time. I really enjoy shooting that airgun, but for the newer stuff, nah - I'm an end user not a tester.

This forum is about airguns... all airguns. If people choose to post about FX more than other brands that should say something. This forum does lean more high end than the other big airgun forum and I’m fine with that.

FX does a great job with marketing and distribution. They’re products are offered outside of just AoA and their network now which has helped grow their brand in the US tremendously.

I really like the Daystate electronics but they cost even more than an FX and the guns are so beautiful that I’d be afraid to scratch it. Give me a synthetic red wolf, or redesigned Pulsar that isn’t ugly and doesn’t weigh a ton and I’m in.

It's like fx this fx that. 90% of the topics is fx guns..crown this, impact this, wildcat this....you know what I'm getting at. There are topic of other guns too but rarely. Every days has to have like 5 new topics about the same fx guns. Nothing against fx guns..I own one too but I want to hear about crosman, hatsan, air arms, daisy, red wolf, brocock, etc.

It’s the same way with the top hunting videos out there now .Its more like FX commercials with a little hunting time thrown in👎🏻

... You can’t deny they are some of the most accurate guns made.

And isn't that what's its really all about, anyway? You aim, you shoot. The objective always has been, and always will be, to hit whatever you're shooting at, as accurately as you possibly can. I've owned a lot of firearms and airguns over my lifetime. Those that did not prove themselves at the range were discarded. Unfortunately, especially in airguns, there is a correlation between money spent, and the accuracy you receive. Kinda reminds me of those AT&T commercials, "Yeah, it's OK."

BTW, I own an FX Impact. 😉

I've owned 6 or 7 FX's, but all I own now is a Leshiy. Seems like a lot of info on a variety of airguns. I too have noticed guys talk about how great a gun is-right before getting ready to sell it. It's a suckers game. The only was you get out is to get someone in. Same for most things in life. Years ago I learned that my stock brokerage house owned a few million shares of a stock they were recommending as a "Buy". Live and learn.

Could certainly be true but might be a bit too cynical as well. Maybe they believed in the stock and that's why they held it and recommended a buy. Hard to know for sure about any such thing but I guess it was better than recommending you sell while they were buying.

2Fast. As to your original question I will say (respectfully) It's you.

I spend perhaps a little too much time hanging out here and do a lot of reading. Yes, FX is very popular brand in this forum and does get mentioned a lot, but not exclusively. Also, while they have their die hard fans, there are a significant amount of posts with problems with them. I will not opine about that because I have never owned one and don't have a foot to stand on. I have shot one and it shot very nicely and was very accurate as well. I personally don't really care for them too much as I don't like the large magazine on top, the way those magazines feed, and perhaps have been scared off a bit by the problems reported by users. Then there is the reports from users that have problems about the lack of response from FX USA. Again, this is not anything I have experienced, but rather what I read from owners on this forum.

Then there is the fact that there are plenty of other gun brands mentioned and reviewed on AGN. Same as FX some good, some bad, some have cult followings. One of, if not the longest going thread on here is about RAW guns. It's called RAW Report. Then you have a very vibrant Springer section. FX to my knowledge does not have springers.

No, not too cynical. Not cynical enough. Amazing how people will hand their life savings over to a guy with a piece of paper on his wall saying he took a 2 week course. Only thing most have is a direct link to the market that gets trades in quicker than the average guy.

Overgeneralized IMO. But keep on keeping on. Doesn't hurt anyone but you.

This forum popped up after advertising issues with the old Yellow Forum. At that time they had a monopoly in the Air Gun community, as did AoA with FX guns. They were the sole US distributor, others did comparisons on costs based on currency valuations with other countries. When you have no competition, there are advantages. FX is a cutting edge in design, and is taking a big bite out of the hi end airgun market, maybe a little more competitive now there are other dealers in the states.
