Is it dumb to add to your collection when you don't have time to shoot?

"bowwild"I understand the question and respect the responses as personal choices. I've only been in this air rifle thing for about 3 years. I didn't build a "pile" of them but I recently decided that 5 was too many for me, because I neglect shooting them most of the time. I typically get the bug in the winter to shoot indoors here at home.

While I don't think it is "dumb", it bothers me personally to have nearly $2,000 air rifles just sitting in the safe. That's why I've sold three of mine this year. I was awed by my Daystate Air Wolf MCT but it is now gone.

I did just buy the Umerex Full Auto MP40 BB gun last week. It is pure fun to shoot. I am pleasantly surprised how accurate (for BB) it shoots and that I get two, full 60-shot magazines of shooting from 2, 12-ounce C02 cartridges.
I just sold a 2900 dollar long gun to make room in my safe for a RAW I plan on ordering shortly, even though I have 3 safes and a gun cabinet I still had to sell one to add one at a higher cost but that's the addiction of it all weather it's airguns,Archery, powder burners it's a hobby that leads to addiction hahaha.

"Gunnertrones"This is a "quantity vs quality" question to me.
There are big differences within the pcp kategory, within springers, and between pcp's and springers (both ways aktually).

Gotta agree with quality vs quantity. I have 5 springers and two PCP's. Rarely shoot the springers, but keep them on hand anyway. Eventually, maybe the grand kids will express an interest and these will be good starter guns. The PCP's are a Marauder and Crosman 1701 Pistol.

While the PCP's are good, definitely entry level in the PCP market. But here's where I'm torn. I'd like a sub-12fp gun. Other than the Benjamin Maximus Euro, not even sure where to get one. It gets good reviews, but the trigger seems barely adequate, finish doesn't compare with the more expensive guns, etc. I also want something in a .25, so saving for a Streamline or Royal. I can get a streamline in .177 and tune it down as far as it will go, and I understand it will be sub-12fp, and have that nicer trigger, etc. but then it'll take longer to reach that .25 cal. Oh, choices can be so hard. Cheap and fast, or expensive and incredibly slow! What to do, what to do??

Limited budgets and incredible quantity of choices make it all fun!

I work on this premise if a rifle looks right feels right and has good reports/reviews then I will buy it.
I am a bit of a magpie with rifles the voice in my head says do not buy another rifle the wife will go Nutt's but alas the voice in the ❤️ says bugger the wife and just buy it are you a man or a mouse.

I make an effort to shoot all my rifles at least once every two weeks normaly I manage three a day depending on work load and health I am cursed with MS which kicks in at some inconvenient times.

i was in my local RFD two weeks ago having a walk around and spotted a nice HW100 in Laminate that looks almost like the Laminate on my Daystate Saxon now do I need a new rifle nope in no way did I walk out the shop with out buying one yes I did only because the one they had in was a display gun. So I promptly ordered one for collection in August and strangely for me I have gone for a .177 instead of my normal .22.

i do not normaly shoot German guns as I find the to clinical I had a lovely HW100 a couple of years back the wood was amazing but I just could not get in tune with it. Now im sure I'll get on with the new one it's the carbine version it felt right in the shoulder so should be ok.

So yes old chap there are never ever to many rifles to own.

Quality over quantity is what I've switched to. When I first started I had a bunch of lower end PCPs and tons of time to shoot! Got married and something called a honey do list started taking up most my free time...started selling and trying higher end ones. Now I've settled on 4 PCPs with 2 I'd like to let go but one took a spill out of the safe and will be staying so I'll have 3 now. The amount of time I get to shoot well 3 keeps me plenty busy
