Is a Private Mail or Email Sale/Purchase Agreement Binding

Yours was for sale and then you agreed to a trade? You put was traded, so had he shipped his already, but you had not? I guess also you were trading because you thought it wouldn’t sell at an acceptable price?

If it were me and nothing had been shipped yet, and I knew you were trying to sell outright in the first place. If you said, I know we have an agreement to trade, but I got a much better cash offer I’d like to accept, I wouldn’t be upset.

No. The other party's rifle had not been shipped. He chose to use the USPS -- which was closed on Sunday. Our agreement was made on a Saturday evening. In fact, UPS delivered my rifle to him a full 2 days before his rifle was delivered to my post office.

When I make an agreement, my intention is to keep my word. I assume all other forum members operate under the same set of rules. As another member stated above "...a deal is a deal."

Since we're still dragging this on, I'll do one more comment on it.

First, there was NO email or pm from the seller about it selling AFTER his email to me with the "it's your" email that I showed in my original post. The first notice I got was my PayPal being refunded and then an email stating my money had been refunded along with what looked like a partial email that had been supposedly sent out to me. If it was an email, it never arrived. And yes I checked spam and rejects.

And as regards the snoozing and losing, in the future I'll keep that in mind but in cases like that, the seller should also add to the "it's yours" along the lines of, "I also told other potential buyers it's theirs too, so whoever sends me the money first wins it". That was 11pm at night and i did snooze and then sent the PayPal the next morning.

A trade is one thing, cash money is another. And I totally understand, a deal is a deal for you. What a great testament to you, on any further transactions you make on here.

It was unfortunate. I was at a New Year’s Eve party. It’s done. Spilled milk. It’s a $275 scope.

@30Harry, you bad mouthed me publicly. You didn’t have to do that but whatevs. I haven’t lied. I take deals seriously and I expressed my condolences. Like I said, I’ve learned something here and will alter how I handle this situation in the future. Capisce!

Sorry OP, I know you didn’t ask for this on your thread. Happy New Year all.

You're a good man.

Bad people don't stick around to explain their side of the story. I would deal with you on any transaction, no hesitation.

I really appreciate the help you provided on the carbon fiber for my Wolverine.

Oh, it's not just me. The overwhelming majority of forum members here operate under the same rules. That is why I mailed my rifle to the gentleman involved in the trade with confidence that he would mail his rifle to me.

*My wife laughed at me when I mailed my rifle to the other trader.😂

I sell a lot of things on forums, FB and Craig's List. I have had many, many people say they wanted something only to have them ghost me...or worse leave me waiting up for them to arrive and pick it up but never show. I have lost time and money turning down offers from other buyers because of it

If I say "it is yours if you want it" to someone, and don't hear back from them when someone else says they want it I will follow up with whatever means we on are communicatingt with I have another offer and if I don't hear back from them in a reasonable amount of time, sell it to the other person.

If I'm the person who gets the email saying "it is yours if you want it" I don't wait to pay if I'm serious unless there is some weird hiccup and then I let the seller know.

It is, in my opinion, about prompt communication. I don't expect anyone to hold something for me if I'm not responsive and visa versa.
