Introducting Element Optics & their Backstory

Not sure what's new about it. I had an FX Verminator Extreme MKII that came with 2 FX scopes (one for the pellet barrel and one for the arrow barrel). Maybe they were having someone else make them and just put their name on it, but unless they are manufacturing them in house (which I doubt) it's the same thing. I don't see any lack of optic options before this "big accouncement". The APRS reticles just look like a copy of the Althon reticles-yawn.

Close. Looks more like Vortex EBR-7B & Nightforce MOAR reticle merged into one.

Congrats. Looking forward to hearing more. And finally a SFP 6-24x scope calibrated @24x; someone there has a brain.

If you ever corner Ted and want him to rant for an hour, ask him this exact same question. This has driven him crazy to know ends, let alone being true at something odd where you can't do the math on any of the other magnifications!

I think the reason some SFP scopes are calibrated true at medium magnification should be fairly obvious, it's to take advantage of having a larger FOV so one can locate targets faster in dynamic situations and not having to take the time to dial back up to max magnification, like often needed when hunting, or like is critical in most tactical matches with strict time limits. Otherwise that's a good reason why one would buy a FFP scope which has reticle hashes true on any magnification with the reticle appearing full sized on highest magnification like a SFP scope does.

I remember using my SFP Nightforce 5.5-22x56 for shooting long range steel. It was calibrated at 22x. I'd have to dial down to 15x or so to find the steel, then sometimes I'd forget to turn the magnification back to 22x causing me to miss when using holds. Also I'd give my shooting buds wrong wind calls spotting for them through the scope. So for my application FFP made the most sense and I sold the NF.

It's a pick your poison thing, since physics dictates we can't have it all, pick whichever attribute suits your personal need the best, and sometimes a SFP calibrated at full power might be wanted the most.

Good thing we have the option of many choices these days.

I guess made in China with Japanese glass.

Gotcha. Kinda like the 34mm tube Arken EP-4 that sells for approx $600...

I agree that there are already a lot of choices out there with similar reticles... that would be great though if it turns out that the Nexus is rated a tier 1 scope once reviewers get their hands on it.

Mike did you see this.

Thanks Michael I missed this. I am much more interested in their mid line offering Titan, which is the one Airgun shooters will buy. Most guys aren’t going to drop $1500+ on a scope to shoot a max of 200 yards. I’d be interested in how that compares to similarly priced scopes like the Athlon Ares BTR or Midas TAC, Bushnell Forge, or Arken EP-4.

@peskillah,

Sorry did not mean to hurt your feelings , I think FX makes some very good Airguns and from everything I’ve heard discovery is a good scope. Was just a quick observation about the looks . Again I apologies , honestly did not intend to hurt your feelings.

Watch Matt Dubbers video on Airgun 101 about they story behind the development and quality put into these scopes and you will realize how far off and uninformed your comment was. Bill
