Introducing the FX Maverick

I have 2 FX's Wildcat and a Dreamline. I'm a lefty never had a issue. Seems the cocking is on the right side for us though.

Is your Wildcat at MkIII or one with the smaller magazine? I am having a hard time imagining how the wildcat or this model could be shot comfortably left handed. I would be ordering a maverick right now if that magazine wasn't right where my cheek wants to be. Pretty sure FX can't hear us left handed shooters complain over all the noise of making guns for right handed shooters.

Introducing the FX Maverick: A Brand-New Rifle Platform from FX Airguns

The modern airgunner wants to be able to shoot heavier pellets and airgun slugs at optimal speeds to ensure the best accuracy as well as shooting at longer distances. The FX Maverick is purpose built from the ground up with heavier pellet and slug shooting in mind. The Maverick features the largest plenum yet on an FX rifle as well as the latest FX innovation, dual regulators.

The Dual FX AMP Regulators is brilliant in its concept and execution. The first regulator pre-reduces the pressure in preparation for the second regulator. This provides less stress on the second regulator and achieves a more constant output pressure with less standard deviations. Both AMP Regulators can be adjusted externally and should be adjusted in harmony with each other (ideally a 30-40 BAR difference between the 1st & 2nd regulator.)

The Dual Regulators work in tandem with the large 89cc Power Plenum. This large plenum, paired proportionately with the correct porting and valving, allows for a more consistent working pressure to be delivered with each shot.

The Maverick utilizes the same rear power adjuster that was first introduced with the FX Wildcat MKIII. This breakthrough hammer adjuster allows for both micro and macro adjustments using the same dial which allows the Maverick to be fully adjusted in harmony with the Dual AMP Regulators for the chosen caliber and projectile. Like all modern FX Airguns, the Maverick utilizes the world class Smooth Twist X (STX) Interchangeable Barrel & Liner System. All FX Mavericks ship with Superior STX Standard liners perfect for shooting pellets, FX Hybrid Slugs and lighter weight slugs. Additional liners are available to tailor to different projectiles.

FX Maverick owners also have the options of picking up the FX Maverick Slug Power Kit. This kit includes a heavier hammer and slug pin probes that allow for even more power and velocities for heavier slugs.

The Maverick has a more tactical body which will allow for aftermarket components to be added for further customization. The rifle is a bottle gun with different configurations of the rifle coming with different sized bottles and barrel lengths. This rifle comes in three configurations: The Maverick Compact comes with a 300cc carbon fiber bottle and a 500mm STX Barrel. The Maverick Sniper has a large 580cc carbon fiber bottle and a 700mm STX Barrel. Finally, a value priced Maverick VP is paired with a 400cc aluminum bottle and a 600mm STX Barrel. All Mavericks have 20 MOA built into the picatinny scope rail, multiple picatinny accessory rails, use standard AR grips and feature the newly redesigned rear FX buttpad.

The FX Maverick is an innovative customizable platform with the FX world class accuracy and adjustability you have come to expect. It delivers all the accuracy and power that the FX Impact offers, but at a lower price point.

The Maverick itself will remind shooters of both the FX Impact and FX Wildcat. Like a perfect blend of the two rifles, it offers the absolute best of both worlds.

The FX Maverick is already shipping to FX Dealers worldwide. Contact your local FX Dealer for availability.

Does the maverick have the same barrel retention setup as the wildcat series of rifles? (2 set screws at the top of the block below the cheek piece). Also, how similar is the receiver block itself to the one on the wildcat?

I had the impact on order but bought the sniper when I seen it. My thought on the impact is they will soon come out with a dual plenum and you will be behind on a big update.

that’s is very smart!!! One can bet money on that’s exactly what’s going to happen. I’m hoping that they add the second regulator by way of bottle adapter which means current impact owners can buy the bottle adapter and get dual regulators also. Hell you can already do that with the Dreamline bottle adapter but will lower the bottle a little plus volume might be an issue....might be worth a try still! 🤔

My hope is the next impact update would the dual reg via a bottle adapter and then much further down the road they go hammerless. I can’t afford to buy a FX gun every 6 months!!!

A great idea with the dual regs! I don't see the valve control that is on the Impacts. I wouldn't want to give that up for a Maverick today, or the high capacity mags with the Impact. I do like the bottle reg idea if that could become an option for existing Impacts, but the more regs. the more maintenance/troubles. There's still no left-hand thinkers at FX either.

Only the impact has the valve control. The maverick is based on the wildcat. The only adjustment is the hammer tension in the rear.

I didn’t want the adjustability either and thus bought a Crown and Wildcat which I enjoyed thoroughly. I tuned each to be super accurate and consistent with pellets, which didn’t take long at all. I then finally decided to buy the Impact as a dedicated slug gun. The valve adjuster has been instrumental in getting the magical sub MOA tunes for slugs, especially for distances of 100m and beyond. Not sure I would have got there adjusting hammer spring and reg only.

I would appreciate any feedback on whether sub MOA tunes are possible and readily achievable without the valve control. If so, I would be tempted to add the Maverick to my collection.

As far as the "left handed" comments go I am a lefty myself, having just bought a left handed WILDCAT MKIII, it was supplied with a reversed cheekpiece and the very small magazine that was originally with the STREAMLINE, so it works fine for leftys as long as you don't mind the smaller mag capactity!

Is the cocking lever on the left side?

Goodness thank not! only right handers should want the cocking lever on the left side!

That's okay if you only shoot from the bench, but I use my guns in the field. Removing my right hand from the fore end to cock the rifle would cause me to lose my sight picture. Not good when needing a follow up shot.
