Introduced my R10 to Donny

I ordered a DonnyFL Tanto for my BSA R10 mk2. I replaced the factory shroud with a new shroud that mates up to the Tanto to keep the bull barrel look. I ordered the Tanto in .25 (R10 is .22). The new set up shortened overall length a little over 3 inches. Even though the DonnyFL is shorter than the BSA baffle stack it did reduce the report. It was not a large reduction in the sound pulse but a noticeable change in the tone of the report. It changed from a higher pitched 'thack' to a lower pitched 'thuck' - forgive my "scientific" terminology. Gets me to wondering how a .22 Tanto would do; or the next larger diameter (1.6" Sumo?) Accuracy stayed spot on (I had a 10 shot 1/2" 50yd group today; yay!) The R10 also seems to have picked up an average +5 fps with it's favorite JSB 15.89 pellets. I'll need to shoot a full string over the chrony to confirm the new velocity vs shot count. Very happy with the Tanto. Well done Donny.

The shroud is aluminum tubing that I picked up at HD. I almost went with carbon fiber tubing but decided to stay with the matte black "stealthy" look. I liked how the flat finish of the stock, scope and shroud work with the semigloss sheen of the breech, bottle and DonnyFL. I decided to try and quiet the rifle down further. I drilled ports thru the rear cone of the Tanto from the space before the first baffle and back into the shroud. This allows some of the initial blast of air to vent into the shroud. I also drilled two vent holes in the shroud at the breach end. This added venting worked wonderfully and cut the report almost in half. I have not had a chance to recheck accuracy but worst case scenario I will just need to buy a new cone end piece ($35).
