Interesting Custom Walnut FWB 124

I've had this FWB 124 Sport rifle sitting in the cabinet for a couple years now. I would like the stock maker identified if possible. It is very similar to that on the rifle dubbed "Queen Bee" previously owned by Tom Gaylord and later Scott Pilkington, however there is no checkering or grip cap.
Tube is Beeman branded including on the recoil pad. The recoil spacer is not white plastic but rather metal; probably aluminum. It came with the factory open sights. Scope was added later. I know nothing of this rifles origin other than it was from an estate sale in Oregon.
Thoughts anyone??

I have searched high and low on Google. The closest matches are the Beeman Custom shops with fine checkering and grip caps.

warlord- The Feinwerkbau cover plate was offered from Beemans in the early 80's so it is not surprising to see it on there. No shroud on barrel and the trigger guard is not engraved, but rather smooth. It looks identical to the one on the Custom rifle in the pics below. Those are reflections in my photos that make it look like engraving.

John- Yes the sling swivel easily clears. I have shot it on several occasions.

mj102- The Beeman brand on the recoil pad makes me think it is from the Beeman Custom Shop also. Would not make sense to put a Beeman pad on a J.Maccari or P.Watts custom stock. None that I have seen at least. I have both a '79 Deluxe 124 and an '80 127 (metal trigger) both having unmarked butt pads. Which is interesting.

Motorhead- Agree, it looks like the R-1 profile. If the loop has been clipped then it started life as a Deluxe version. Something to check.

What a beautiful stock. It certainly appears that it came from the Beeman custom shop. I compared the photos you posted to my custom shop 124 today and there are just enough finishing details to give me pause. I think it certainly could have been made in the custom shop using the same stock pattern, but finished differently. I also would think that the custom shop would have used a standard not a deluxe. I’m not sure why they would chose to clip the sling swivel when they had access to inventory.

Here are a few close ups of my 124.

Matthew,

Thanks for posting those close-up photos. I have only seen a handful of Custom Shop 124's online. All of which are gorgeous.

To start with....I may be biased so please correct me if I'm mistaken in my observations below.

Similarities- The overall stock profile looks the same as yours. Both are nicely figured oil finished Walnut. Looks like identical highly polished custom trigger guards along with similar looking screws heads. Same Beeman branded recoil pad instead of plain like found on the production line Deluxe models of the same time frame. Even the Select Grade and Fancy Deluxe Walnut options were apparently not branded on the pads.

Differences- What jumps out at me are the precise contour lines on Matts. They are sharper whereas the contours on mine are sanded smoother. However, this may be purposely done to keep in theme with the smooth grip and forearm. Of course the biggest difference being the fine checkering and grip cap found on yours which very well may have been options. Yours started out as a Standard Model whereas mine was the Deluxe. The addition of an aluminum spacer plate on mine is interesting as well. There are a couple years difference in manufacture dates. 1980 with the painted safety compared to 1982 ?

Starting to conclude that this stock actually came from the Beeman Custom Shop but not sure if there were Custom Shop offerings in 1980. Possibly a customers Deluxe rifle was sent back to be transformed to what it is now. Only speculating at this point.

Anyone have the '80 catalogs to check offerings?
