Input on the Huben k1 ?

Hello everyone!!!

I'm really interested in the huben k1. I really like the form factor and the semi auto along with the power it has is really appealing. Seeing that it has gone through many different revisions over the years, i would appreciate it if users of the platform could provide some info on it (preferably on the more resent versions; 2020 or even 2021).

How reliable is the semi auto action?

How accurate is the platform?

Are there any specific problems that one should have in mind/consider before deciding to buy it?

How easy is servicing it ?

Thanks in advance!!!

The semi auto is well developed and reliable. Just like any semi auto, make sure to seat the pellets tight in the mag.

I have a .22 and .25. Both are 2020’s. They are very accurate with heavy pellets 25 gr in .22 and 33.95 gr in .25 Slugs-maybe just like any PCP, you have to experiment.

You do have to be very careful in always putting the gun on safe when not in use, again like any semi auto. It’s always “readyto fire”, and a little more difficult to clean, like any semi auto.

There are plenty ofguys who work on theirs, I do not. I have Kelly at Krazcool Airguns for that, and servicing needs are usually minimal, with lots of guys who have shot 5,000+ rounds through theirs without issue.

They are great. I had both .22 and .25. I kept the .22, but now wish I kept both.

The semi auto functions flawlessly.

They are a hair more difficult to shoot really accurate. Barrel is difficult to keep clean. The firing from the mag makes it a hair more difficult.

But all in all, I like the huben. Only other semi autos the compete with it is the sk19. And the Leshiy 2.

I have a January 2020 build in .22. Kelly from Kraz Cool Air Guns (where I purchased) told me the difference between the 2020 and the 2021 is a slightly different twist rate in the barre, (202o=16.5:1; 2021=17:1) and the 2021 has a carbon fiber wrap on the air cylinder, which is purely cosmetic. I also learned that around February 2020, Huben came out with a new , more consistent regulator. Mine had the old one and velocity was not real consistent. I replaced it with a Huma-Air regulator which has helped a lot. As for your specific questions:

How reliable is the semi auto action? Very! Just remember to flip the little loading lever down before you shoot!

How accurate is the platform? Since changing to the Huma_Air regulator, my accuracy has improved, the 2020's and 2021 with the new regulator may not have the inconsistency issues, so accuracy should be more consistent with those.

Are there any specific problems that one should have in mind/consider before deciding to buy it?  As others have said, it's always ready to fire. I usually shoot all the pellets out of the magazine and check to ensure the magazine is empty and the safety is on before I put it away.

How easy is servicing it? Actually pretty easy! Tere are some good disassembly videos on YouTube. I did the Huma-Air regulator install myself and it was fairly easy to do.

16 out of 19 inside a nickle at 53 yards with 18gr jsbs at 960fps. I recently got the gun a few weeks ago from kelly and only adjusted the power wheel up 1 click from how he sent it to me. Have around 300 pellets thru it and the reg is starting to get real consistent. Thought I would jump right to slugs but have over 5000 jsbs and since they shoot so good might be awhile before I get to them. Awsome gun

Pros- Ergonomics is amazing. Feels like putting on a glove. Camo dipping makes it feel even better.

Adjustable power works very well and the adjuster knob has a positive detent. Can be set up to shoot pellets or slugs.

Can get the trigger adjusted very lightly and predictable.

It gets a ton of shots per 320 bar fill. Set up using .22cal. Jsb Redesign @ 920fps 76 shots. Set up using .22cal Jsb 18gr. @ 900fps 120+ shots.

Magazine is non removable. Will not loose it and don't have to worry about storing an extra one. It holds 19 pellets, equivalent to 2 mags.

Very easy to pack through the woods, short.

Very quiet with factory shroud for the power its producing, but can install your favorite pickle if want it quieter.

Very accurate for a semi auto.

Quick follow up shots, great for hunting.

Can easily be slinged, already has predrilled holes in stock.

Adjustable Reg. up to 200bar for slugs.

Cons-

You may experience some Reg. creep. Not all of them have this but I have seen it.

Biggest problem with these rifles is everyone is not educated enough on them. Everyone is scared of them. They are not hard to work on or repair. There is a lot going on with them but it is a very simple design. Being around the air guns that I have, I have seen some pretty dumb poop from like Daystate or FX. I am not trying to degrade them by no means but all manufactures have there issues.

Takes a little longer to load, only 2 pellets at a time. No big deal.

Note- I copied this from another post when I did a comparison with LCS.

So, it doesn't really require tinkering right out of the box in order to work properly? Just put on a scope and go on to use it? (i'm not much of a tinkerer tbh).

How frequent is reg creep on the platform? From what i have read, it is a common issue among pcps.

I have a 2021 .22 and the upgraded factory reg does not work well at the lower settings (less than ~16). So much so that Kelly at Krazy Cool swapped it out for a Huma after trying different bevel washer setups. The huma reg has almost no movement (Kelly set it to ~11) with rapid fire versus the stock reg that bounced around a lot. At 11 MPA it still has the power to push 14.3gr Crosmans well past the sound barrier.
