Yesterday I got to do a feeble attempt at zeroing the scope on my new G2. I bought the Tasco 4-12X. I was so tired of not being able to get this thing at least usably zeroed for the back yard groundhog invasion going on. To this point I've been slinging lead in the form of the Ruger 10/22 shooting Remington SubSonic LR ammo. I will admit it's pretty deadly in my hands after nearly 20 years of this war. So I tried. I have the longest Harris bipod 13"-23" on it using the M-Lok system. I was sitting in an office chair on casters. By now means was it a steady rest. I set the scope to 9X and the target at 25 yds (laser measured). The front end was stable with the bipod in the shortest position and the seat lowered. BAck end wobble was purely me.. I sort of set the initial zero with the cheap Hatsan 24.7 gr. the shot the RWS 31 gr. Superdome and finally the H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme 28.24 gr. The best was sort of a tie between the RWS Superdome and the H&N Baracuda. I did a 6 shot group of about an inch with 5 of those 6 going into about 3/8".
As I said it was more out of frustration and certainly can't call this a true test. I'll break out the Benchrest stuff and give it a proper go sometime soon. The RWS Superdomes shot a big ragged hole about 1 1/2" oval with 10-12 shots.
CONCLUSIONS??? I'm definitely within Minute of groundhog head with 25 yds........ More to follow..
