Info on FX Impact barrel help please.

Thanks Ernest for your explanation, and that is what I understood. Referring to the image above, what confuses me is the difference in coloration between the barrel thread and the threaded section of the Smooth Twist. I would have thought that if the area that becomes the Smooth Twist section of the barrel is turned down from the barrel blank to facilitate the crimping in of the Smooth Twist, then the threaded section would be silver all the way to the end of the thread.
This made me think that the barrel which had been blued was then married up to the "bare" un-blued Smooth Twist section later.

I have the independence in .22 when i first got it. i had the same type with the 2 piece end. but that barrel did not like those barracuda extreme hunters you know the ones with the pozi drive tip. got a couple of them stuck up in there had to get a new barrel which looks like the one on the right. why does FX have or make 2 different styles of that anyway????????????
