inexpensive scope

It’s hard to go wrong with any of these $100- $600 dollar scopes.

The Hawke Vantage 2x7x32 is probly the best $100-150 scope you will find out there and has that wonderful reticle as well.

The Vector Optics Veyron and Discovery VT-3 scopes are both compact and lighter weight scopes in 3x12x44 with 30mm tubes. They are both decent for the money around $200 and both Mil/Mil scopes so none of that funky Hawke Mil/MOA stuff going on. So there is some give and take between the two and I like them both for what they are.

If you are going for an FFP the Veyron has a pretty thin reticle and it can get lost in a dark background at lower magnification. But it does focus down to 7 yards at full 12 power so that is not often a problem although your FOV will suffer. It weighs in at 17.6oz and has a nice Mil Hash reticle. It is available in a 2nd focal plane scope as well.

The Discovery will just barely focus to 10 yards if you turn the power down to 6 but it has a thicker reticle that is easier to pick up at lower magnification so it is not a problem either. It weighs in at 18.3oz and has a nice Mil Quad reticle. These are also available in 1st or 2nd focal plane.

For the last compact scope I found this USO TS-12X unit. It is much more expensive than the other compact scopes and the quality shows. It has better lenses, better turrets and a flawless finish. Once again it is an FFP scope so the turrets do get a bit thin under 6 power. Shop around for a better price I picked mine up for under $400

https://www.usoptics.com/product/ts-12x/

The Alph6 4.5x27x50, while not a compact scope, is in the same price range with very good glass and a very good scope for the money as well. Like the Veyron the reticle is a bit thin, for my taste, though.

For a bit more money the Immersive prism scopes are very nice. I bought a 10x40 and absolutely love it. It is for Airgun or non-recoiling guns only as it has very little eye relief.

If you can manage a bit more money the;

SWFA, Athlon, Aztec and Element scopes are not as compact or light weight as the others but have better glass and turrets.

SWFA fixed power scopes are an excellent buy as is the Athlon Talos BTR 4x14x4.

Good glass and turrets on this one;

I don't have one of these but reviews are good;

Aztec; I love the reticle on this one I have three of them;

Element; I think the turrets may be slightly better on this one;

If you are wanting to buy any cheap or mid priced scope that has either no warranty or a very limited 90 day or a 3 to 5 year warranty it is probably best to go with the cheapest you can buy and just buy another one after it breaks out side of warranty..

If you have the patience to wait more than 30 days and don't care about warranty then buy from Aliexpress.

If you don't need illumination and prefer a simple non cluttered FFP reticle.

Both of these turrets seem decent about average may be alittle above average. Value for over all quality for the dollar spent won't be beat with either of these.

Primary Arms have very similar above mentioned scopes for 2.5 times the price and only carry a 3 year warranty.

If a SFP scope is good enough for you then this one at only $80 including shipping won't be beat for what you pay. I could not believe how nice these scopes are for the price compared to much more expensive Leapers UTG and economy priced Bushnell and cheapest Athlon and Vortex just had to try for my self. Glass is nice and bright image is sharp turrets around average. Has a life time warranty. If you buy the $60 or $70 refurbished version of this scope you don't get a life time warranty which I believe is only good for only 30 days.

https://www.ebay.com/p/19011763482

Mentioned above is the AIMS Alpha 6 if you need high magnification with stunningly clear image that no other $200 street priced scope can match. It is clearer than a Vortex Strike Eagle at high magnification that retails for $699 and the Element Helix and Titan selling for $399 and $799 another user compared all at 24x and 25x. It is also much clearer than the $450 Arken SH4 6-24x50.

Resolution appears sharper compared to Discovery HD on high magnification. The turrets are mushy below average just like the Discovery HD that cost double street price and does not have a life time warranty. Only 5 years if purchased from an authorized dealer at much higher price. I wouldn't recommend Discovery for the price they sell for.

After recently reading turret issues on a thread I mounted my AIMS Alpha 6 on my Gamo Urban rifle and clicked then shot several box tests just to see short of a fire starter or nipple twister I don't want to abuse my scopes.

My sample seemed fine. It appears to share similar DNA to Discovery HD turrets and the numbers some times don't like up perfectly too.

I do give credit to the feedbacks about the glass quality for how cheap they can be purchased for. $201 for a 27x scope I don't believe there is any other brand sourced from China in competition with it. At least not anything as decently clear for $200.

I believe it is a typical Chinese made quality control issue if you get a good one great and if it's no good then send it back for warranty exchange. Same with mid to low end Vortex that are made in China and Athlons and Arkens and Hawkes and so on.

That is what warranties are for.

Don't buy the AIMS Alpha 6 if you don't like Discovery type turrets or the weight.

Some of the West Hunter scopes share similar turrets as well.

Not all of the West Hunters are optically great. Some may be disappointing if you buy the wrong model.

If you need FFP can buy Tac Vector Optics if on sale half price or close to half off at least the Taurus or above that level or any thing that has life time warranty it punches way above above its class too.

If you are one of those folks who don't want to buy any thing made in China then the Sightron S Tac is made in Philippines on sale for $299 Amazon with out rings or with rings from Camera Land NY. It is a 4-20x50 SFP scope with nice glass and has better than average turrets.

It is probably the best bang for the buck in regards to over all quality for a non Chinese made scope with a life time warranty.

If you prefer Japan made with life time warranty then Clearidge would likely be the most affordable Japan made scope brand today.

25 yard side focus selling for alot cheaper than every one else.

Prefer South Korea instead ask if he'll sell the last one since his listing ended. It was $135 with free shipping. May be offer less.

Henry,

I think there were some questions about

🔸How many U$ dollars is "inexpensive"...

and

🔸What kind of shooting do you plan to do with it?

Hunting or target/ plinking (or both)?

At what ranges?

Do you dial for elevation or hold over (or both)?

Is weight and/or size important?

🔆 Some good people have been writing you detailed recommendations — but it's hard to recommend any scope without knowing the answers to the above questions..... 😊

It's like asking "Does anyone have recommendations for an inexpensive but decent quality vehicle?" 😊

This guy cracks me up. He is comparing the $80 eBay Center point 3-12x44 that I posted a link to above.

Looks like he paid $98 for his. I would not recommend Hawke brand scopes based on personal experience with defective scopes that didn't track properly with zero shifts and lack of warranty they just returned them stating nothing was wrong.

There are many others experienced the same thing with their defective Hawke scopes as well with lack of warranty service.

At least if you get crap warranty service or no warranty it's only $80 and not $400.

Also the $80 selling price is less than half of what they regular retail for.

A new Toyota Corolla or least any old used Corolla as early as 2003 to current are fine. At least the door handles aren't as easy to break off compared to the older ones. Automatic transmissions much stronger than Honda's.

Air rifle gun case fits in the trunk or at least across the back seat.

Would not recommend Honda brand period due to likelihood of theft and automatic transmission failure.

Speaking from experience, I really like my Discovery VT-Z & Vector Veyron Veyron 3x12x44. Very crisp & bright glass on both & thin, uncluttered reticles. Still less than $200 I think & FFP to boot.

I have a couple of Vector Optics scopes. A 4-16x44 Veyron and a 6-24x50 Marksman.

Both are great scopes with clear sharp optics and excellent value for the price. My only complaint is that Vector Optics is a Chinese company and I would rather not give China my money so probably will look at other brands going forward.
