Inaugural outing with Walther Parrus .22

10/14 Was mine and my twin brother's 66th birthday, so I went to his farm for a morning of squirrel hunting with the birthday present I bought for myself...Walther Parrus in .22, with a Hammers 3-9x40AO scope. He had his small grandkids at the farm for the weekend, so he couldn't join me.

My family gets upset with me because I never give them ideas for my birthday, Father's Day or Christmas. I buy what I want, when I want, and never worry that it costs too much for the kids to contribute to. I just tell them that if they want to spend money on me, just put it in a plain white envelope with my name on it...don't waste money on cards, because that money could be going towards pellets, scopes, scope caps, scope bases, etc. . I like to keep it simple.

Anyway, the morning went great with me harvesting five squirrels for the stew pot...two black, two fox and one grey. Four were head shots and one was a heart/lung shot because his head was behind a branch. It was an angled shot, and you can see the exit wound on the side. All five dropped right where they were shot, which makes them one shot ethical kills. They are now in my freezer for a future squirrel stew dinner once the weather turns into stew weather.

The Parrus performed flawlessly with H&N Field Taget Trophy pellets, and to say I'm impressed with it is an understatement. I also own a Diana 34 which shoots nice tight groups, but this gun puts them in the same hole making a cute little cloverleaf. Truly a fine piece of German airgun engineering. Aside from being a bit on the heavy side, I can find no,fault with this gun.

I bought mine fromAirgunDepot.com for $270 shipped with a 10% off coupon they sent in an email. The scope came fromAmazon for $62 shipped.

You should be be able to find at least a 10% coupon code online to save some bucks. I saved the local 8% sales tax by buying it from AGD, even though PyramydAir is lesss than a 30 minute drive from my house. That savings got me two tins of pellets!
