In search for a decent reticle

this is for a plinking/woods gun, so the $300 area is what i would like to spend. here is my dilemma. i really like the UTG reticles. nice bold easy to see dots for holdover. my current scopes for plinking are a discovery and bushnell. problem is that in the woods the crosshairs get lost. i have searched all over in an effort to upgrade but cant find any scopes with a nice easy to see reticle like the UTG. any suggestions would be welcome.

I shoot far more plinking than anything else, but I do bench shoot and hunt. I agree with vdwb on the illuminated reticle being the solution for the woods. Check out this sale still going on (I own this one): https://www.eurooptic.com/Vortex-Strike-Eagle-4-24x50-with-EBR-4-MOA-Riflescope-SE-1627.aspx?avad=211021_a169c05c5&utm_source=35987&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=avantlink

The only hesitations I had before purchasing were 1. weight, it compares evenly with similar scopes but you can find much lighter if you go to a 1" tube. I generally use a monopod when I hunt and the weight hasn't bothered me. and 2. 25 yd minimum focus, but on 4 power you can focus at 10 yds no problem.

Don't let the "Scope Snobs" give you too much crap for liking the UTG scopes! For the Vast Majority, they will certainly get the job done! They certainly aren't the top of the food chain...but they ain't quite the pieces of crap/paper towel tubes that some claim.

Not everyone can afford, nor do they NEED to slap a Nightforce on their airgun to hit their intended target!

Enjoy and have FUN!!

Mike.

Agree. I have several UTG scopes, both pistol and rifle, and have had no problems with any of them. Not necessarily the best scopes available but for the money they seem well worth it to me.

I’ve got an extra UTG - illuminated reticle never mounted. I ended up going with AEON and Hawke Sidewinders for my PCPs. Hawke illuminated for low light but are over your budget. The UTG is in your budget and illuminated - I don’t know why I never even mounted it to tell you the truth - I fell into the Hawke hype and the Hawke was 550 compared to sub 300 for the UTG If interested for more details and images through the scopes pm me
