Impact with Crown barrel system

Is there some reason a person couldn't siYes FX barrels but there are plenty of good barrels, LW can be pretty good and would cost a lot less even after machining.
I know they use a thimble ( I think ?) but there are other airguns with a fast change out barrel set up but this model seems to have set a top $$$ I just can not quite figure out.
A different set up but I had 3/4" anschutz barrel machined and installed in a Bam50 for a good bit less money. Now I do get sticking with OEM parts but is that the reason?

"GBGUNNER" A personal wish of mine is to have the quick interchangeable barrel system ( .177 > .30 ) of the Royal Crown adapted to my FX Impact. Is anyone doing that conversion. I'd buy a Crown 'sept I really enjoy the short power full bull pups with 24" barrels. I wish FX would make it possible. $500.oo per caliber change is beyond me. GB GUNNER
It is my understanding after talking to the folks at Utah Airguns that changing the barrel sleeves in the Smooth Twist X system is ONLY within calibers. This means that to change from .177 to .30 (for example) you would need to buy a whole new barrel system just like the FX Impact. They did not have pricing on this yet, but they guesstimated it in the same price range as the FX Impact barrel/caliber change which is ~$500.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - I was hoping it was as easy as a new probe and barrel sleeve for $99 as well.

"sirk"if you go from .177 to .30 and back, you will have to make major regulator adjustments. Ask yourself -would you risk it.
All other adjustments are easy to make and also they will be needed. If you are into tuning. go for it.

So long as the testing and adjustments made for each caliber are writen down then making those 'major' adjustments take no more effort than looking at your notes. If you had to take apart th gun to make said adjustments then it would be a hassle.

Thanks to all who answered. I had thought that not only could the Crown change the twist rate within a caliber but also change calibers by replacing the liners. I am well aware that changing calibers takes changes to reg. pressure, hammer spring tension, and transfer port size. That is a matter of keeping good records of the settings for different calibers. I have a .25 and a .22 for my bob cat but it is a time consuming operation. GB GUNNER
