Impact vs Crown power?

Greetings,

To maximize 100 yard accuracy, I've been considering moving up to .25 or .30 cal, but I worry that my Impact doesn't have the power to launch the larger pellets at the highest speed I might want to test. Is the Crown any more powerful than the Impact? Say you have a Crown, and Impact, both with .25 cal Crown barrels. If you set them both at max power, and chrono a heavy .25 cal pellet, will the Crown be faster, or do they have the same power?

I've read that the Impact can use the Crown barrel, but has anyone actually seen Crown barrels for sale? That's my biggest frustration with FX is the lack of availability of their products. It's great to be able to swap barrels, but not when they aren't available to purchase.

Thanks,
Rusty

My Impact .30 is happy shooting the 50gr at 830-835fps. W/ the power wheel maxed out it'll do 840, but shot count suffers and I can hear it wasting air. I get 2 of the side shot mags on one fill w/ the power wheel on #4.

It's laser accurate too.
Did the Long Ranger thing at 160 & 175yds
Consistently rang the gong with it last weekend at any range up to 100 yds.

Quite pleased with it.

I guess maybe I should be looking for chrono reports from users. I know my Impact .22 didn't meet the spec when I got it, and I sent it back to AOA to take a look. It was better when it returned, and it does meet spec now, but I haven't tried anything over .22 cal. I do see that the Crown and Impact have essentially the same specs for power.

Thanks,
Rusty

FWIW, AOA does have .25 and .30 Impact barrel kits in stock now. They also confirmed that the power should be the same between the Impact and Crown.

Looking over the EBR results, I'd be hard pressed to choose .25 or .30. My original plan was to have .22 and .30 barrels for the Impact, but only because all my powder burners are in those calibers. If nothing else, .30 cal holes are easier to see at 100 yds :)

For now, I'm going to try to hold out for the Crown barrels, but we'll see how that goes...

"AirSupply"Something else to consider. The smooth-x for the Impact will be available in 700mm. Ernest has one and Matt Dubber used it on the .30 cal he placed 2nd in EBR.
This will up the power with no other modifications so may be worth waiting for if your thinking of a barrel kit for the Impact.

So looking forward to hearing more about the results of these barrels.

Ted has a video on the vlog on how to tun the Impact for more power. Might want to look that up as it requires disassembly of the power wheel and resetting an item or two. Might be something to do with that.
