Impact or Red Wolf

I have both.

Both perform very well (same level) when on song, but my impact is less trustworthy to hit the mark coming out of its box for a few different reasons which pop up on occasion.

Plus, as has been said the RW has a superior trigger and because of superior stock fit, I find it easier to use offhand/in the field but mine is the shorter standard power 0.22, and anyway this is something that's different for everyone.

So whenever I contemplate selling a gun, it's the impact that gets a photo shoot. That said it's not gone yet - end up deciding I like it too much.

I have owned both, and I currently own the Impact. I purchased an Impact before the RW, and hated the Impact originally, because of the fit for me. Then I purchased the RW and loved it!! That made me want to stick with air rifles. There wasn't much to dislike about the Red Wolf, and I would definitely own it again. I love that the RW is setup like what I was looking for when I came over to air rifles. Long rifle format with adjustable cheek piece. Light trigger pull, if that is what you want to call the mouse click. And it was accurate. I was always worried I might scratch the pretty finish. I wish it had come standard with a pic rail instead of dovetails as it would have opened up the ring options, but that can be gotten around too. I purchased it because I wanted something high end that I wouldn't need to tinker with. That could be a disadvantage too, if you like to tinker. I got rid of it when I needed to get away for a while.

When I came back, I decided to give the Impact a try again, because there were now ways to extend the bipod rail and add a cheek piece that were not readily available when I first owned one. I love it. The trigger is completely different than anything I run on my precision rifles or the RW, but I have gotten used to it and I am a fan of it for this setup. Honestly, it is hard for me to leave this setup, now that I have it. I guess I am lucky because I have not had any issues. I am not married to it, and would not suggest that it is the best for everyone either.

I think they are two very different rifles, and it would depend more on what you like and don't like. I have tried several rifles that people love and I hated the fit for me, ignoring how accurate the rifle may have been. For me personally, I think the aftermarket parts were necessary for the Impact to fit me, but I also like that they have the aftermarket parts that allow it to work better for me.

My suggestion to anyone first and foremost is to try to understand how you like to shoot and what you want in your air rifle, before you let anyone convince you something else is better. With the wide variety of setups, one is not better for everyone. Always try to find some in person if you can. I know that is not always possible, like me with scopes. I just have to keep buying used ones to try them out and see what I like, because nobody around here carries anything worth having. When I first got into this, I am so glad that NC had the gun show. I thought I wanted a Wildcat for sure. Picked it up and didn't like it at all. Saved me from buying what was going to be my first purchase. I was fairly sure I would like a Crown or RW, picked them up and loved them. I'm not sure why I purchased three other rifles before trying that format!

Anyway, long answer, and I know you have been around a while, so most of that answer may not have been for you, but the next guy wondering the same thing.
