impact or crown?

After buying the wonderful Crown I found that I was loathe to risk it out in the field. AoA really did a poor job installing the pic rail so I wouldn't hazzard using a sling.

The impact is a better all around gun, especially with the 700mm barrels. a single point magpul sling adapter makes carrying it in the field a dream.

Much is made about the instability of the Impact vs traditional guns off the bench, but with the pic rail extender, and wide stance bipod I have found it to be just as stable.

Are the magazine sizes the same for both guns? I dont mean count, I mean maximum length chamberable in the mags. I was reading that the breach is bigger for the crown, but that may apply for single loading pellets? I ask because I am also facing this decision and I would dislike single loading slugs. The 700mm barrel and a high capacity mag sound like a great combo for the impact but I dont want to exclude the best slug shooting option(if there is going to be one).

The magazines are a mirror image. They are exactly the same otherwise. With a scope off you can actually put the Impact magazine in the Crown. It just sticks up a long way because of the ramp on the breach of the crown. The Crown is much easier to access if you want to hand load. The Impact is very difficult to hand load.

If you buy the impact you can buy the best magazine out there it is made by SideShot. I have the .25 cal Impact and the SideShot magazine and conversion kit are fantastic . The magazine holds 26 pellets and is so easy to load. You can also still use your standard magazine. The Impact is like the Jeep there are a lot of after market parts and accesories.

I also have the Crown, great gun but I only use it for benchrest. I have ordered a Redwolf .25 HP after it arrives I will see who gets to stay as the benchrest gun.

Thanks for the heads up and Ill look into that Sideshot setup. I fell in love with the look of the crown and thats what put me over the edge into a new money pit...I mean hobby(Ive had alot of springers). The long barrel is something I wanted and the impact just seemed a more logical platform for it. I think maybe theres even room for a Ronin on the 700mm impact and not feel ridiculously long? I appreciate the input from both of you and now I feel more at ease with the whole thing.
