impact or crown?

It really depends on what your primary use is. I got my Crown last December and am very happy with it. However, I use it for the bench, and bought an Impact for hunting.

There are great adjustments available on both with the edge going to the Impact, but the Impact would be easier to mess up I think.

The new 700mm barrels are said to be impractical on the Crown, however the new 600mm barrel liners will work on it fine. I have yet to buy one yet, and wont untill the nee liners are available.

So far I really couldn't decide which one I'd give up if I had to, but I've only had the Impact a couple weeks. But I can shoot the Crown better off the bench, and prefer the Impact in the woods.

"Hynzie"IMPACT 1 of the coolest airgun to ever come out it does everything exceptional well including. Bench rest . DONT LET PRICE CONTROL THIS BUY ITS GOING TO BE A GO TO PIECE. TALK TO PYRAMID AIR ASK ABOUT 30 DAY GUARANTEE. IF U DON'T LIKE IT WILL THEY EXCHANGE IT I BELIEVE THAT THEY DO. PAT
pyramid air carries FX products?

I chose the Impact over the Crown for one reason. I want a short rifle. I don't like really long guns, and the crown comes in somewhere around 42 inches where the Impact is about 36 inches.

To me, it's easier to carry than a long gun, super accurate, adjustable, and the rest. I looked seriously at the Crown, and nearly bought the Crown, but the Impact dimensions really convinced me it would be easier to carry. So far, it's proved correct.

Don't get me wrong, ran into a shooter at the range last week with a Crown, and my envy meter really went up. Gorgeous gun and he could shoot. Really tight groups at 75 yards. About the main difference to me is just the look and length.

Tough question. I'd ask what will you use it for but both guns have won at the EBR...so there's that on the benchrest arguement. I've seen where both guns are good hunting guns so there's that on hunting. I haven't seen a Crown in the flesh so can't comment on it but I do have some "long guns" so I can comment on size.
Using the Impact in the woods and brush is a dream. So short and maneuverable and it being made almost entirely of aluminum, it's resistant to scratching. I'd be nervous taking a beautiful laminate or walnut stock, (like on the Crown), on a hunting trip.....but there's synthetic now so there's that. But the Impact begs for a bipod so a little more $$
I can one-hand the Impact and I really like that...it's very light. And now there's the new X edition so you get a better regulator, trigger and the X barrel.
So guess you will have to decide what best suits your needs.
Have fun deciding...

I have a synthetic Crown in .25 cal. I mainly hunt with all my airguns - I don't shoot benchrest or punch paper. You'd think the Impact would be the logical choice, but I chose a Crown for several reasons.
1. Traditional rifle length - I hunt seated with a Vanguard bipod as the gun rest - I find the longer stock more comfortable. I don't have to sit as scrunched up and close to the bipod as I would with a bullpup design.
2. Cost - $1599 vs $1999 - a $400 difference is a big deal and I can't justify the cost considering how similar they are.
3. Simplicity - the Crown is simpler in design, therefore fewer screws/knobs and O-rings that could go bad. Less stuff to break/strip/etc.
4. Adjustable - basically you can tune the Crown about the same as an Impact. Personally I don't fiddle with a gun once it's dialed in and shooting great. If you like to constantly swap barrels, calibers, ammo, and love to be tinkering, then you'll get about as much out of a Crown as an Impact, barring the longer 700mm barrels and some other small differences.
5. I'd choose a bullpup/Impact if portability was your priority. If you're on the go, walking through the woods, shooting in tight quarters, go for a bullpup design.

The valve adjustment is a big plus on the impact....you can realy dail in the exact speed u want......plust combo valve and hammerspring balancing can result in very good harmonics. That being said...the impact is not as good looking as the crown. Plus the feel of a traditional rifle beats a bullpup......i peronally think the buttplate on my inpact should be an inch longer....wich ill prob do myself.... though choice.......impact does have the option of the 700 mm barrel....they are both very nice looking guns.... and i have to admit i mis the wood on my impact

I would stay away from the Dreamline for a bit. While the base model is supposed to be around $1000, it's fugly. If you like wood or traditional stuff, it'll run at least $300 or $400 more. That brings it up into the synthetic Crown range. Nice but the extras add up in a hurry and first run products always have some jitters. Let it settle down and get a later model.

As for adjustments, both are incredibly adjustable to achieve target pellet speeds. The Impact has a knob that controls how far the valve opens (from what I understand). The Impact has a control that controls the valve opening. Different, but can both be adjusted to really adjust the speed.

Again, I don't think either is superior to the other, to me it all comes down to configuration. If you like a bullpup / tactical design, Impact. If you like a traditional rifle look, Crown.

I don't really care for the bullpup look, but wanted the short gun, therefore, Impact. Other than that, I really don't see any difference between accuracy, adjustability, or anything else.

I went with the Impact.
I wanted a .22 and the biggest factor was size. I wanted a short gun that could shoot lights out! Have a massive shot count, and versatile to where I can shoot pellets to slugs.
Now that he "X" slug liners are coming out the .22 will become the premiere caliber. IMHO.
Plus you can run a 700mm barrel should the mood ever hit you?
The crown would be ridiculously long with a 700mm barrel on it.
That's just what I wanted. Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

I have a inpact 30cal with the new smooth twist 700mm barrel and I have a 30cal crown pepper color laminate. I have a lot of time with both of them and the are one of the same the only differences is stile inpact shorter AR15 handle Modern design and lock futuristic. With endless adjustments for fine tuning. As for the crown traditional rifle style for those who prefer traditional rifle styles also has endless adjustments for fine tuning now from what I see using both with the new smoot twist x it comes down to what you like the are mechanically and adjustability exactly the same in fact fx is suffering from buyers canceling orders of the crown because they are too much alike outside of the styles so buyers don't want both as for me I like both stiles so I got my crown after my inpact. If I had it to do over again I would have got a red wolf instead of my crown it is a lot different looks and also computerized. Hope this helps I'm new to the discussion boards. John
