Impact leak assistance

Down and dirty:
I broke it down far enough to remove the rear block to take some measurements for a custom barrel.
I put it back together and there was an air leak coming from the trigger well.
I used Mr. Rowe's vids to service the valve, only found one damaged o-ring on the valve tube, but replaced both.
partial reassemble as per vid. to conduct leak test, installed air tank, no leak, then I removed the tank and after a min. or so I heard it leak off rapidly
I thought maybe it was normal for the bleed off after removing the tank so I installed the bottle again to see, but this time leaking heavily from the rear of the trigger well, that's where the reg is but I haven't touched the reg

Is this issue a procedural thing that I caused by doing something out of sequence or is there something else going on?
Any guidance/assistance appreciated.
Please no recommendations to take to AOA for service, I'm done with them for service.
Thanks!

if it's leaking out the reg adjusting screw it's one of the small orings on the adjusting screw. If it's leaking out the weep hole and around the trigger it's most likely the inner oring that seals the reg body. It could also be one of the orings that seals the tube that slides into the receiver above the reg. If it's blowing air out behind the trigger it's probably on of those orings they are real easy to damage when sliding the tube back in the receiver because of sharp edges. Hope this helps

Well, the pinch groove desperately needed deburred, I actually found the little sliver from the new o ring. I dressed up the edge, put a new o ring on the valve tube, put it back together and when I screwed the bottle on it still leaked from the trigger well area, so I pulled the bottle back off. I needed to pinpoint the leak so I mixed up a little soapy water and carefully applied it to the regulator with a syringe with the action upright, I screwed the bottle back on, it started bubbling for a about 10 seconds and then stopped. Bottle pressure was only about 125 bar so I hooked it up to the fill tank and ran it up to 200 just to get up over reg. pressure and it held pressure. I have no Idea what the heck is going on but I'm putting it back together, before it starts leaking again.

"sniperlabyo"me 2 I had to smooth out those sharp edge on the cut slot when it was cut the 2nd time

Some pretty shoddy finish work all over when you start looking closely at this $2k weapon, I can't thank you enough for the tutorials you published. I've worked on light, heavy, wheeled, tracked, engineer, aircraft, water craft, weapon systems, radar, power generation, small engine, and a bunch of miscellaneous, I can fix about anything with the appropriate maintenance manuals, unfortunately FX doesn't offer any. My sincere appreciation for your service to the country and the airgun community, Thank You sir!

Just a thought, on the FX Facebook site you might get a response from them in regards to your issue. It concerns me that several people have had issues of different types with the Impact. I should have mine by the end of this month and hope the newer models have better quality control dealing with past issues. It's something they need to address. I can't recall any other air rifles in their lineup with this many issues.

Issues persist:
It held air overnight, but it seems to be losing air between shots; I notice if I have a break between shots, reloading, checking targets, or whatever reason, it loses power/velocity, then next shot with no pause in between is right back where it should be. Even in normal steady pace of shooting I have seen some pretty wide spreads 15-30 FPS, historically the gun was below 10 FPS on the spread. I'm pretty sure the front end of the valve tube is good after dressing the sharp edges, but I won't know for sure till it comes apart again

Now a new issue; after 250 bar refill it shot very weak, I got to looking and the reg. pressure was equalized with the fill pressure, reg. reading 250 bar and shooting very weak. I removed the bottle and bled the system off and reinstalled the bottle, all good, fill pressure 250 bar, reg pressure 150 bar. Shot it down and filled again with the same result, reg. pressure ran up to fill pressure of 250.bar. I haven't touched the reg. on this gun, and there really isn't anything mechanical to become out of tune over time. I cant see much benefit in simply disassembling and reassembling the reg. but if that's what must be done, I will.

Does anybody know what the overall valve rod length should be, and exactly how it's measured? One of the techs at the shop mentioned this is critical but didn't provide the measurement value. If I have to tear it back apart I want to make sure its as right as possible.

Thanks again

Let's see the first problem you are having where the reg pressure goes up with the fill pressure is an inner oring within the reg is leaking by. Just about every sealing surface in this gun is sealed with two orings with a whole in the middle to direct air flow to where it needs to go. One of the oring that directs bottle pressure is leaking by the reg and into the regulated chamber. Check the weep hole below the safety and see if you have a really slow leak at this point.
From my experience when my gun would start shooting erratic shot strings the poly oring that the hammer strikes everytime you shoot would be worn out and cut from the hammer striking it. I've had that oring split and get pinched between the valve rod and the hammer causing resistance inturn not letting the valve open exactly the same every time causing slow shots and then fast shots. I just replaced mine with the same size oring but a buna 90 black oring and I haven't had anymore issues.
Hope this helps.

It may be a bit before I can tear into it again, my valve rod buffer o ring was chewed up also, just put a new one on when I had it apart, will definitely try the 90. I have a suspicion its an issue in the rear block, the rear pressure gauge appeared to have been bottomed out and the thin web at the bottom of the threaded gauge hole actually pushed upward into the bore, I could see a hump in there and it had a stiff spot going back together. I'll check it out and report back. This gun was in the shop for a leak previously but I didn't get a detailed repair report. there is definitely evidence that a less than stellar tech has worked on it, rounded hex on the quad ring retainer, bite marks on the valve rod components.
