I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to reconsider the caliber, but the beauty of the Impact is that it's easy (though expensive) to change. Best I can tell, the .177 and .22 are shorter than the .25 and .30, and I do want to stay with the shorter length. Also, every powder burning rifle I own is .22 or .30 cal, so that was my thinking for the Impact as well. I figure I'll start with the .22, then add the .30 later if I can justify any reason to spend the money. Fortunately it doesn't take much for me to justify things
