Impact Buyers Beware - Chinese replacement parts - Check Country of Origin

OK, Ebay is scam central, but now you can buy Chinese knockoff Impact parts direct from Hong Kong, here's one example:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Part-B25-FX-Impact-Valve-Tube-19615-PCP-Airgun-Hk/383032400096

I also saw a Trigger Catch, magazines, MK II Upgrade kit, probes and a couple other parts..

I guess the real question is, Would you trust the Valve Tube from Hong Kong to hold 2200 PSI without rupturing? Probably nothing wrong with it, but I think I'd rather buy the factory part.

What's wrong with chinese made product? I'm sure 95% of all items in your house is made in china. I have not use their air tube but I'm sure it can easily hold up to 200 bar. I own a yong heng made in China and pump it to 4500 psi no problem for 2 years. Not all Chinese are crap like people made it out to be. Even usa made items can be crap.

I saw these earlier this week and was wondering of the quality. They look identical. The "Made in China" argument is a moot point nowadays, as the whole world goes to China for a deal on manufacturing costs. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that these FX parts were OEM, and that they are being sold "factory direct" because FX farmed out the manufacturing contract that build them there and some employee has "aquired" a few extra parts to sell.

Had trouble in my communications with FX awhile back so bought a couple of valve seats for my gen2 Impact on eBay from China. They were incorrectly machined.  The seller, the same one you linked to, refused my return didn't know they could do that on eBay.  So, I'm out $40 I can handle that but never again. I will always try to buy from other countries before China because of the poor materials and fit and finish on most of the stuff I purchase from there. I have a box of Chinese junk probably spent $500 on it's contents over the years. The items were promoted falsely to have this or that spec are not to the spec specified and barely functional so are pretty much useless. Yes many things I have in my house are from China like my bandages, some of my vitamins and lately I found my prescription drugs come from China as well. Shame on American businesses! Do I trust them NO I do not. I have first hand knowledge of many times they have started to sell a good product then without notice have changed the product specs and materials. This caused much damage, time for repairs and replacements and in some instances serious danger to the public. It also caused businesses to nearly fail. Getting them to straighten these things out is usually not possible even though they plainly broke their contracts. I buy American when I can other countries goods if I must but unless the China part is one tenth the price I try my best to leave it. If it is one tenth the price and looks like a useful and not a dangerous item if it fails then I may purchase it knowing full well that I am likely in for some modifications and or adjustments when the product arrives.

After all of that being said I have not one but two Yong Heng compressors only one has blown a couple of seals after 16 hours of use. I bought the second after blowing a seal on the first and finding that parts, while inexpensive, would take a long while to get here but a new compressor could be had right away. I feel good about having a spare.

My employer bought 3/8 nuts and bolts from an american supplier( who purchased from china). all marked 3/8 - 16 NC. nuts would not screw on to the bolts. the threads appeared correct. you could run a 3/8 clean out tap through the nut and then it worked. Lots of wasted time that day .
Had similar problems with electrical emt conduit connectors and other items. once china gets the money you are screwed, no refunds and they will not ship without full payment. I do my best not to buy from china.

GBGUNNER

Need to be careful with the nuts and bolts my employer got a shipment of nuts and bolts from China and they kept failing. Bolts would break and nuts would strip which is not a good thing when they are on transit buses. After much complaining by us mechanics they stopped purchasing the junk fasteners and things got better right away mainly cuz we just tossed many of the new China made fasteners in the recycle bins.

I have had terrible luck buying from China. I once bought several hundred colored glass balls for a metal art project, I was told that they were colored glass but they were clear glass that was lacquered. When I asked the seller about the lacquer chipping off they said “ no, no paint just glass “ Completely false. I won’t buy from China again, seems like the truth doesn’t matter as much when there’s an ocean in the middle.

The Made in China quality issue isn't a moot point.

I also have a Yong Heng Compressor. Died after less than 8 hours run time. Piston disintegrated. The Made in China quality isn't a moot point. Been waiting for 6 weeks for parts to arrive, came in lasts week. Original parts were just badly designed and executed even worse. Will I buy from China again? Yes, but with eyes wide open knowing risks involved.

tried to buy replacement gauges for the compressor. Replacement was off more than the original. Vendor strung me along until eBay closed the transaction. I could tell more stories like that where people got less than honest deals.

To be fair, I buy lots of tools at harbor freight. Chinese, yes, but they have a return policy and quality controls enough to keep me happy. These sellers on eBay, maybe not so much.

The real point, if you have a gun you spent $2000 on, why would you buy knock off parts of dubious parentage and unknown quality? Each of us have our own choice, but it really is Buyer Beware.

This forum is about airgun. Topic is about the fx impact air tube. Idk how it turn from airgun to bashing on chinese man nuts, bolts, and glasses. Lmao. People complaing about China made product then dont buy it? Not hard lol. I have buy many stuff from China. My only complaint is it takes 3 weeks to a month for it to arrive to the states, and their tracking number update so slow. Some time it shows still left China for weeks, then one day just show up at my door. Beside that I have no complaints about it. People said bad chinese man product, then why are you buying it. I dont understand. It's like buying a cherry pie knowing its gonna taste like cherry then complaints that the cherry pie tasted like cherry and they are allergic to cherry lol.

What about the eBay guarantee? Didn't that work? Or is there some way eBay can refuse to cover your purchase when you register a complaint?

I used to buy and sell on ebay. I was making some decent extra cash. Now I hardly visit ebay. Hell I cant sell on there anymore because anything I make and put on there is placed so far down the list it we rarely get seen. Also I found that if you are making something that the Chinese sellers will literally copy what you are doing or close to it and screw you over. And guess what... ebay clams to protect people but they dont. Im not opposed to Chinese products but sadly its hard to tell what you are getting on sites like ebay and amazon for that mater. Sure I still buy some things there. Like those bright ass flashlights that are a dime a dozen or radio controlled car parts. Other then that im scared to purchase much else there.

The issue with "Made in China" Quality is that products contracted by US companies are required to pass certain quality standards. Products sold directly to you as the consumer, can bypass all the regulations. So it really is a Crap shoot as to what you get. (They maybe even be selling the items that couldn't pass the Import Regulations)

2 items may look identical. But the quality can be vastly different!

Good practice? If it's a critical part? Buy it from a reputable dealer.

If it's an accessory that isn't critical? Then it might be worth saving a few bucks by buying it on Ebay.

The key is only you can decide if saving a few bucks is worth the risk?
