I'm questioning my barrel set up

I bought a 22 cal, 500 smooth twist barrel for my FX dreamline tact

I then purchased a carbon barrel sleeve, the sleeve was a tight fit, seems pretty secure,

then I put the two barrel spacers on the end of the barrel and a small shot of glue to hold them in place

then put on the shroud .

am I in effect going in the wrong direction with installing the barrel spacers, would the barrel be better off with no support on the end

with the carbon sleeve in place, completely free floating inside the shroud.

question is coming up because when out hunting a few times I've dinged the end of the shroud on something

and worried It may be enough to move the shroud and affect the interior barrel, should the carbon sleeve be replacing those spacers out right?

This is what I did, I have no idea if it is correct, but seems good so far.

I basically have the same thing now, the two barrel spacers on the end of the carbon barrel sleeve

but with the shroud only threaded on one end, it would seem that if the shroud was bumped even a little, it would effect the barrel itself

was just wondering if the setup would be better with no spacers and leaving the interior barrel with sleeve on it all by itself.

seeing that the purpose of the barrel sleeve is to stiffen the barrel, should it just be non supported

so i'm really questioning things now, went hunting saturday morning and had one grey at 30 yard, good solid rest. crosshairs right below the ear

at the shot the grey was stoned, but upon retrieval, noticed the shot hit 1/2" right and 1/2" high. maybe just me

took the gun to my range yesterday and first group at 30 yards showed the same high right. made an adjustment on the scope. immersive 12 x 40

next group of 5 was right on the x. then groupings went left , then right, then left again, no crosswinds or stringing, all the groups were quarter size

pellets are H&N barracuda match 21.14's , 115 regulator pressure, hammer setting is on D, getting 810-815 fps,

going to have to break the whole deal down tonight, will try to remove the barrel spacers and just keep the barrel liner in place and see if it

changes this, and becomes more consistent. something must be moving somewhere

just as a follow up, this may help someone else,

i wound up removing the carbon liner sleeve from the barrel, and set it up again with just the two barrel spacers in place

just like it was from stock, re sighted the whole deal in again and things are working good,

just have to be very careful not to ding the end of the barrel, thinking a band will fix that issue if i can get one,

bunch of help in another thread I had started,

also anything over the 21.14 grain pellets, shoot all over, I am thinking the heavier pellets are causing to much destabilization of the

barrel, and grouping is awful , anything below that weight is good, must be some kind of issue with barrel torquing as the heavier pellets

run down and leave the barrel

something of interest, I was shooting inside yesterday, the FX chronograph hanging on the end of that barrel, moves the point of impact

1-1/2" low at 30 yards, so things are pretty fragile right now, and that is not good for a hunting gun. but the greys paid a price last week

shots were right on the money in the woods
