Let me start by saying my little WAR WarP carbine has been taken apart tweaked and tuned more than any other PCP ever owned !! Has been set up in .177 / .20 / .22 / .25 calibers. Numerous variations of Crosman valves, WAR valves, SS gen 1 valves and many of those with "Cobra tech" air springs. Hammers from 80 grams to as light as @ 24 grams. Stroke taken from the full @ 1.400" down to minimal. Springs that were under tension to free flight, SSG devises & poppet height limiting strikers. More I'm sure
Always running regulated, all but the SS Gen 1 valves worked well once you found the sweet spot pressure, hammer strike fiddling with springs hammer stroke & weight. A lot of darn tuning hours spent here !!!
Now comes along the Jefferson State SS Gen II balanced valve
After a few combos of light hammer and long stroke & soft spring, to heavy hammer short stoke and light spring, ended up really liking a *light hammer at intermediate stroke with a heavy spring best.
Note: all produced the same @ velocity, tho muzzle report was telling of what the dwell cycle was doing ... thus the last *combo above was deemed optimal.
As set up my little WarP carbine is wearing a 23" LW .22 caliber barrel and likely to stay there because it's just SWEET & O' so accurate even past 100 yards.
Using an SSG devise with a fairly heavy spring, fitted a Very light hammer having a total weight of just 26.5 grams with @ .050" of free flight at a stroke of @ .800" ( Yea pretty short stroke with a super light hammer )
Regulated it at 1800 PSI .
H&N BARRACUDA 21.1 grain pellets .... 1015 fps for over 48 ft lbs power !! Muzzle report sounds like a 12fpe .177 with an LDC being STUPID QUIET !!!
Shooting a few dozen shots the pressure gauge is barely moving down telling of the efficiency even at this very high power level.
Love it Love it love it !!!
