Im having a brain fart with my condor.

Ok Im not sure what section to put this in, so sorry if it is wrong. I went upstate this weekend and shot for three glorious days. I was testing and setting up my new adjustable top hat in my .25 condor ss. It works well but even the biggest insert slowed the fps down 75 to 100 fps depending on the weight of the pellet. (Still 55 fpe) But I got more usable consistent shots on each fill. So I was making new range cards for each pellet. Due to the high scope mount on the condor, when shooting at close range 5, 10 and 15 yards the hold over was insane. At ten yards at 4 power was 3.5 mil dots. No big deal when you are sitting at your shooting bench relaxed with your range finder and ballistic chart handy and no rush to shoot. But... I went out into the woods for red squirrels and of course here he comes close and boom - brain fart. Im trying to remember... switch to 4 power. adjust parallax. holdover target. And whats worse is these little buggers are on crack. I can't use this gun to hunt within 30 yards. Too complicated. (I did get him after a few shots) Embarassing! I don't know if i should sight the gun in closer to 20 yards or just use it for longer shots. I nailed about 7 or 8 starlings from 30 to 60 yards no problem. Sorry for long story but any suggestions would be appreciated. I love the gun but never thought about the scope height.
