If you are going to be pesting or hunting do yourself a favor get a scope with an illuminated reticle. For those who have done enough of the above you know that there are many times when you lose a black reticle against dark backgrounds or shadows. I came to the conclusion after having to pass up too many shots on critters because I couldn’t see the reticle. Sometimes those opportunities are few and having to pass up shots sucked big time. Now please understand I’m not advocating illumination for all shooting activities, just the ones stated. When pesting in and around structures I just turn it on an forget it. In bright light I don’t see it, when panning dark areas, there it is. Shows up nicely against a rodents dark body. If I forget to turn it off and it drains the battery? I carry a spare they are small. Now if all your pesting and hunting is in bright sunshine and open fields, please disregard.
