If you haven't tried a red dot for close acquisition shots...

... you should! This is a 5 MOA reflex dot from Hawke Optics.

I bought a bunch of gun sights for my P700SA. From open sights, to reflex sights, to red dot sights, to scopes and a laser. Each have their own attributes and issues. For me the P700SA has a loopy trajectory. These PCP pistols shoot slow, so field of view is a big issue, especially at close range for pesting purposes as well as quick target acquisition. Because the pellet trajectory is slow, hold over and under is the plan of the day. Of course the higher the sight line over the barrel line, the more difficult this becomes, but the hold over and under requirement is unavoidable. This takes lots of practice to master. My point here is that in my experience there is a clear winner. and that is the reflex sight. Your target is in view from a 10' range all the way to 50 yards. Memorize your range card, know your range and practice holding low and high.

Love my Holosun red dot along with a scope. Don’t get anything bigger than a 2 MOA size dot. The 3 and 4 MOA dots are too big and are for shooting man size targets or people at short range. Also one thing to consider in red dot scopes is being able to change your battery with out taking the scope off the gun then you have to sight it in again. I like the sleep and shake awake features too but those features are on the upper price range units. If you mount a red dot at a 45 degree mount you have to Kant the gun 45 degree’s to sight it in and then shoot it. Might seem awkward at first but it gets easy with practice and if you have the scope at the right height you can still get a cheek weld which helps accuracy. Sometimes you have to add an extra spacer on the rail mount to be able to see through the middle of the scope and see the red dot. I have a 1/2” spacer on my Leshiy and Maverick set up. That’s a Sig Sauer red dot on the Maverick. I too prefer the HoloSun.

Michael do you have a Classic Leshiy with a Dedal?

Does this RDS fit on the side picatinny? Do you think it would be awkward to have it mounted 90 degrees from vertical?

Yes I do. The pic rail on the Dedal will work if your a lefty, otherwise it might be kind of awkward to tilt the rifle that way.
