I was hit by my own air rifle.

This is an unfortunate day, I shot steel, the speed of the bullet is only 245ms 2.2jsb, the bullet rebounded, hit my nose, the wound penetrated, this tells us that shooting needs to pay attention to safety.

This is why many people use an ablative, or absorptive backstop. I have a cardboard box which is filled with crushed aluminum cans, which is in front of a brick/concrete backstop. As the crushed cans get compacted, I add more to the top of the box. As the cardboard gets ate up (and is at risk of dropping out can bits), I add some fresh tape to the front of it. Any pellet has to go through the aluminum cans twice to hit me, once going in, hitting the concrete, and then again when rebounding back. I have never experienced a rebound. Some people use shredded rubber to much the same outcome.

p.s. I am very glad you didn't do the proverbial "shoot your eye out". Safe shooting, and keep in plugging.

Damn bad luck! I have experienced rebounds whistling near me, from then I stopped shoot thing at less than 30 yards that might rebound or have more careful with the angle on the POI is is close. You should try the lottery...just in case! ;)

Shooting distance is only 3M

Ok that explains a lot, lesson learned (I figure)

Does the doctor inform police in China? Who will care for your parents if you go to prison?

In the USA doctors are required by law to inform police of any shooting injury, accident or not.

1st, I'm sorry that happened to you! No fun at all..

2nd, The same has happened to me too in the past - Even with ricochets from actual gunpowder rifles..
I have a few scars, and chipped bones to remind me. haha
Honestly, I think that the more we shoot, and if we shoot enough, it is bound to happen at some point or another..

3rd, Great photos! The x-ray shot is really neat!

Feel better fast!

🙂

Sam -

When I was a young teenager, I shot a BB at a small steel target about 20-30 feet away. It bounced back and hit me right in the right side of my glasses. I was thankful for my glasses that day! The BB's were slow enough to follow them with the naked eye, and I could even see the rebound, but didn't have time to move. I never shot at those steel targets again.
