I sent my friend some slugs to try in his 25 Gauntlet

I have been trying to find a way for my friend Erin to cast for this rifle with frustrating results. Erin, has hot-Rodded her 25 Gauntlet passed the sedate velocities that NOE cast pellets like and we were thinking that was a dead end.

I had purchased some Rick Morrill 48 grain Biattail Hp’s and Rick sent along some 38 grain bthp’s also. When I bought the slugs, it was to shoot them in my Seneca 25 carbine, it was before I did the o-ring to the magazines. Not being to lodge the bases of the bullets in the magazines like I do with pellets, caused the slugs to migrate fire and aft, hopelessly jamming the carbine. I have since done the o-ring mod and the Morrill slugs do noW work in the Seneca.

I have not read good things about slugs in the Gauntlet but we were curious if Erin could get enough FPE to match the 25 acp 50 grain bullet at the factory 750 FPS.

In the meantime I purchased a Arsenal mold # 251-53, I sent along some of these slugs that I had sized to .251.

To make a long story short, with the Arsenal 56.8 grain bullet Erin obtained 794 FPS/85 FPE and 1/2 inch at 35 yards, with the 48 grain Morrill, Erin also obtained 1/2 inch 5 shot group at 840 FPS/74 FPE, the 38 grain Morrill slugs were flying at 940 FPS/74 FPE, best group so far with the 38 grain slugs was 1.5x.5.

Erin has done a lot of mods to the regulator by restacking the Belvedere washers and has used the same washers to increase the hammer spring preload.
