I seem to be regressing. Got Another Diana.

I've been eyeballin the Diana 240 for some time now. It appealed to me with its light weight, easy cocking and handy size...so I bought one.

First thoughts were "Man this is Small!" Seems quite nicely put together and is frankly, a Pretty little thing!

Wood is well finished and it has a plastic buttplate. (Wish it was rubber but ARH has some nice ones if an upgrade ends up happening.) Metal looks great too.

It was pretty dry and crunchy initially and was diesling pretty good,so I broke it down and cleaned/re-lubed it. Still a little crunchy but not objectional.

Evening was going fast so I took it out with a few different pellets and had at it. I also brought along a 3-12 SF Bugbuster I had on hand and being that iron sights are hard on my eyes,I slapped it on. Much more enjoyable to see the targets.LOL!!

Here are some pics...

With all the "Daystate this" and "FX that",a modest little spring gun probably isn't much to get excited about these days for a lot of folks. But I must say...aside from the mosquitos,I was having a BLAST!

Tomorrow I plan on testing slugs out of it.

(Just Kidding! LMAO!!)

..meee tooo... i came into this on a brand new .177 diana model 36 in 1985 , and since then, i find i favor dianas - it's like the german workhorse compared to the other german makes (not so sad if i scratch the stock up going thru briars or drop it) ...... but i must have forgotten the 500-1500 shot breakin period new dianas need , because .. .. i ordered a .177 diana 430L about this time last night (after doing research online, which usually makes for even more indecision - like this time with the 430L ) .... they are on clearance now for $229, when they were $269 just days ago at ag of az..... , then , i was called around 5:30 am ariz time by a guy from ag's of az and he explained that these now DO NOT include the cool scope and mount.... well, poop....damnitt. . . ... i'd been lusting for one each night here online - but i know they charge a good bit for shipping from there, which took it back to an over $300 combo.... $229 would have been great. they end up tossing in the new one-piece diana sliddy, mounty thingy (but who wants moving parts in an airgun scope mount - under the duress of double recoil ? wtf ? ) ...... i called in early afternoon to cancel the whole order of $270 shipped (with the field trophy pellets) but had to leave a message..... they called right back , and yet , i STILL could not fully decide and said , " i'm sorry for my being on the fence..". and to please disregard this phone call. --- i wonder how many times folks have heard that from us, eh ??? airgunners can be a difficult lot to deal with - legacy sports was sure impressed..... enough that they mentioned they'd be happy if they never saw an airgun again......we like to put these giant hubble telescopes onto these things we plink with , and we complain about every little thing, and.... --- i acted today like i was a brand new airgunner all over again ... it was like 2009 all over again. i thought i had graduated past that part of my sweet addiction. -- i regressed not only back to diana , but even buying a brand new one requiring long, tedious break in period......AND........i acted, felt, experienced all of the emotions i recall going thru as a newbie. IT WAS GREAT !! - rane on . - paul. ........... i need to check my tracking number for the 4th time today !!! yippeee !

Here in the UK that's sold as the SMK XS208., albeit with some very minor differences to the sights, stock, etc. I like them, cheap, well finished for the money, very usable, but we do have a terrible problem with brand snobbery in UK shooting circles and they can be looked down on.

Fortunately, no such snobbery here!

Any plans for it? Tuning or modifying?
