I really jacked my barrel - please help.

I really messed up and I'm wondering if there is any way to fix this. Here's the backstory - I purchased a .22 Evanix AR6 pistol from Pyramyd as a refurb. It was leaking like a beast upon arrival. I remember reading a lot about refurb guns still leaking even after factory repairs. Should I have returned the gun right away - probably. Did I try to fix it on my own - hell ya. And I did. It's holding air like a champ - but damn is this a loud pistol. I purchased a 11mm adapter from DonnyFL with the intent I would toss it in the mini-lathe and bore the inside out to 11.2mm for the barrel. The 11mm adapter arrives and I test fit it to the gun before any work. It looks like it could fit with a little tap from a hammer. Well I proceeded to bang the life out of this adapter onto the top of the barrel with a hammer - I hear a million airgunners crying what the hell were ya thinking? And they would be right. It didn't fit - I banged it onto the barrel and was deforming the Al with the steel barrel as I banged it on. In a moment of clarity I realized how stupid I was being and removed it be using a screwdriver as a wedge and hammering it off.

The point of this all - I may have just destroyed this pistol. I went from shooting spot on to shooting a 6" group at 10 yards. Did I kill it? Is there any fixing this mistake in judgement?

Before sending it off you should first check if the barrel is properly spaced in relation to the magazine cylinder and if it's still aligned with the transfer port and if it's still intact. If all is well after you readjust the barrel and still shoots like crap remove the barrel and run a pellet thru using a wooden dowel to see if the damaged end is overly tight due to all that pounding and see if the crown needs recrowning with the brass screw and drill trick. If after that still shoots like crap use JB bore paste thru the muzzle end using the wooden dowel wrapped with old t shirt material on a drill. You have nothing to lose by doing this if your worst case scenario is to replace the barrel anyway and you get the satisfaction using your aggression again in fixing what you've done. If then it still doesn't shoot to your liking then as a last resort hacksaw that damaged end and recrown it. I think it's not as serious as you think tho... YO!

FYI I chopped off the end roughly 1/4" from a Korean rifle barrel that shot like crap (4-6 inches at 50 yards) and recrowned and JB bore paste wooden dowel drill t shirt drill trick then recrowned and 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards. Saved me the trouble of sending the gun to a tuner and the $$$ it would cost and the WAIT TIME. I thought screw it if I was going to have it rebarrelled anyway I was going to order a replacement barrel which I didn't need to. YO!

I own an ar6 very loud powerful gun , this was my first PCP gun ever , remove barrel and roll on glass , make sure it is not bent spin it on lathe and clean up crown should be easy fix , or if you dont have mini lathe but a brownells crown cutter it will be cheaper then sending it to a pro

Hey wait you in CT you can bring it by here and I can crown it for you LOL where in CT ????????????????????????

Lastly I put an adapter on my ar6 to for a moderator , but I machined mine to slip on and clamp with 2 setscrews

the word is frustration, remember this,if it doesn't fit don't force it!!...I would go with yo advise, unless you want to punish yourself and get a special pistol ,spend money and wait....which is fine, though I think the wait part may be hard for you,LOL...you have a thick hide or I wouldn't kid you and you wouldn't have shared your brain lapse 😋Yea what the hay,try to fix it yourself and learn-along-the-way,good luck and thanx for sharing ,

My ar6 guns used a grub screw to secure the barrel in the correct position as rotation would change the gap. Once you get the barrel off, cut maybe 1/4” off, (a hacksaw can work). Then file with good sharp file til its perfectly flat accoss the muzzle. Deburr with a drillpoint twisted by hand if you need, then use a half round brass screw head and lapping compound to lap all remaining burrs from the crown at the land/groove intersects of the rifling. Roll on flat to make sure its straight, Bend til its straight manually if its not.

I'm attaching a file detailing my Will Piatt tuned AR6 pistol. I also had him install a bit longer barrel; but between our discussing it and the actual work, the part about "larger diameter barrel" got lost. The Lothar Walther barrel fitted is actually slightly smaller diameter than the original, but she shoots like a house afire!
