I put my foot in the water today......

I haven't posted here much in a while. I don't do too much air gunning in the summer months due to the high heat and humidity down here in Alabama. Fall thru Spring though I'm slinging the lead.....weather much more suitable. Anyway, I got started with the springers and I am still shooting them regularly. I love them. As a matter of fact, I'll be squirrel hunting this Wednesday with one of my go to springers of the Germanic persuasion. But.....I stepped into the pool this evening that I had told myself I had absolutely NO interest in swimming in. Yep. I just ordered my first PCP from AOA. I will have a Benjamin Marauder .22 cal, regulated with the Lothar Walther barrel in route as soon as they put it on the truck. Please don't tell me that I shoulda stepped up and got a this or a that....I have a kid I'm putting through college right now and I'm a swinging what I can swing and still buying new rather than used. I've read quite a bit on this gun for quite a while and think that it will suit my needs just fine. I'm pretty darn excited. And I'm not normally very excitable. I just felt like I had to tell somebody, so I figured I would share it with you fellas. My wife, well, she ain't gonna be too excited. So......I need you all to take up the slack and be excited with me.

Welcome to the dark side deep end lol. Dont apologize for what you bought man, not everyone buys a 2k gun, and is very happy with what they get. I have a kral bullpup, a gauntlet and a priest 2. I shoot all of them regularly and still my kral is the most as I have done lots of work on it to get it where it's at. The mrod had been around FOREVER and is a solid buy especially with how you got it. You wont be disappointed. Enjoy it.

I also welcome you to the dark side. It's far easier to spend your money on the dark side and we have cookies too! Or at least that is what I heard I have only seen a couple and never got my hands on one yet. But I have spent allot of money searching for then finally finding nirvana and I think this is where the cookies are. ;^) Yup I found one on the floor it must be for me. Remember kids are like cookies they are only around till they grow up and get scooped up by someone and you hope they notice all of the hard werq you put into them.

I think you made a great choice. I only have one PCP right now, an Impact X in .22. My plans are to soon pick up a Marauder F&T, which is what I assume yours is. I want a PCP I can shoot in all elements with minimal attention. Judging from my other Benjamin air rifles, If there are any problems, they should be easy to fix myself.

I almost always shoot standing, and since with a scope it'll be around 10 pounds, I'm planning on getting a good workout several times a week, which is important when you're 67! I'm still debating .177 or .22. Let us know how you like it.

I just went to the AOA website and did not see the regulated Marauder with the Lothar barrel listed?

I really appreciate it fellas. I really do. I'm a bit overly excited about it at this point. It will be used for just general target shooting pleasure at my humble home range, as well as a small game (mainly squirrel) hunting rifle.

Beach-gunner, I am in north Alabama....Blount county.

St. Clair here -- you'll love PCP. Took 3 nuisance squirrels today. Hit one so hard at 40 yrds it sounded like someone whacked a slab of meat with a 2x4. Tree rat fell over and didn't get up. Biggest squirrel I've seen almost about the size of a big 'ol kitten.

You'll enjoy that .22 and I've been having great luck with Crosman Premier Domes in 14.3gr out of my Brocock. I started off with a Gamo Urban and a hand pump and have since moved up to a LC-110 and Brocock Commander Hi-Lite. Do your wife a favor and go ahead and prepare her in advance because I suspect you're going to be hooked on PCP :)

Hey,it's good to see you back.Cgrats on being able splurge aliittle bit. It's rare for me to be able to do the same myself.Your summer is my winter here in Ohio. I think tomorrow may be the last day of the year I'll have the opportunity to shoot outdoors. Still willing to try new things means you ain't dead yet. ( In most cases ,lol.) I stuck my toe in the water last year, well really I did a cannon ball and got a bullpup!, a refurb FlashPup from Hatsan. It is SO! different from a springer. Took alittle persistance BUT MAN am I impressed with the power AND accuracy. (might as well throw the mags in the trash tho) I have to be frugal as well so I went with a YH compressor, 1 of those golden filters. Royal Purple oil for the YH,(good oil protects the foundation, know what I mean?)and a hawke scope (2-7X32) airmax, There is the Hawke Vantage model line for alot less but I like the AirMax Reticle. Still might go with the Vantage so I can put the AirMax on 1 of my springers from Flying Dragon Air Rifles. (which shoot great by the way).Anyhow, it's good see you posting again, let us know what ya think. 1st impressions and such.

Again....thanks fellas. I'm not sleeping well at night knowing that my rifle is on the way. I can't wait! I received an email from AOA this afternoon with a tracking number. It's been shipped and expected delivery is Friday. I ordered a compressor also, but from Pyramid Air and it is expected on Friday as well.

Intenseaty22..... I know I could be shooting in the summer months. But, man I get tired of the sweating. I work outdoors for a living and all I want is A/C when I get home!!

2manyAirGunz.... I'm glad your still using the Cahaba WMA. I told you it was a good range and hope it still is.. I haven't shot there in quite a long time due to having a place closer to my home. And yes, I have a Weihrauch and a Diana. Both springers.

leadfoot..... AOA has the Field Target with Lothar Walther barrel still listed. Go to the PCP portion of their site. It's on page #5 bottom right!

LMNOP..... Your mighty close to me. Right down the road a piece.

I appreciate all the response from EVERYONE. This is still an awesome place to congregate with fellow air gun nuts.
