I learned my lesson

Hey Off_target, glad you escaped relatively un-harmed! It would be great if you could take some detailed photos of your failed filter and post them. Looking at Centercut's filter it looks like the wall thickness is much greater and the threads go much deeper, farther down the inside diameter. Makes me think that the threaded area on your cap much be much shorter since the threaded area on the tube is shorter. A lot of us use these filters (me included) so being able to compare what you have that failed to what we have will help us all make a decision to keep using what we have or not. I would hope you would also send photos of the failed filter to the vendor so that if he has any moral compass at all he will stop selling them. Once again, glad you were able to walk away from that disaster!

Sorry been busy hunting stuff down.

So contacted ebay and the seller, the listing has been removed. But I'm I'm theres more out there

So I have to take some blame when searching for a tuxing filter this one came up and from a seller I bought from in the past. So it's not a "tuxing" brand and didnt realize since the water separator is thick with a lot of threads.

The wall is only .183" thick, the threads .752" ish and is 13.8" long.

Now looking back the add never specified wall thickness. So make sure you pay attention to it!

Thanks for all the support! I post this to save some others from my negligence.

I have been looking on Ebay and that same seller has multiple listings for this same product still up for sale. I'm sure he is not the only seller that has these listed. Off_target, maybe open a complaint with Ebay and send them the photos? Really glad you didn't get hurt but these cheap knock-offs are going to get somebody killed if they keep getting sold on Ebay to the unsuspecting new guys.

Here’s a thought, maybe Michael will see value in adding a sub section to the compressor section like he has with the pcp and and springer sections-

how about a “warning” sub forum, where posts like these can be placed. Fill whip fittings that blow apart, using oils with petroleum products in the air tube, the list goes on. A new guy getting into this hobby can benefit right away from the warnings shared by others.

Heres one- how many of you know someone that disconnected a QD fitting but didn’t know about first bleeding off the air in the hose? Happened to a guy I knew, and has a hole in his garage wall sheet rock to prove it. I recently got a friend in this hobby, and I had to spell out all the warning about not using petroleum based lubes anywhere there’s pressurized air involved. If he didn’t know, and he had a QD that was acting gritty, he’d probably spray WD40 as most folks have that in their garage, or soak it with 3 in 1 oil.

Now that I’m thinking about it, maybe it should be added to the pcp tuning section, also.

I had to pull teeth to get ebay to do something on my one listing. I do see the seller has similar and/or the same listings. The seller still hasn't responded, hopefully they listen to me and remove like listings of these.

I'd support a safety page on this forum for sure for items to avoid with does and donts.

Idk where you keep bringing up this quick disconnect issue without bleeding the air off though. The cap blew out of the threads and everything got ripped apart. I've been i the pcp world for around 10 years without issues please dont belittle me for trying to help folks

Off_target, if you are looking for a better filter option the 'genuine' Tuxing gold filter has 8mm (.320") wall thickness and much longer threaded end caps & is available on Ebay for around $120. This is the one Centercut recommends and I have been using mine for 15 months with no issues.

Thanks! I'll check it out! I saw a American made one at some point that was cnc. Anyone know which company it is? I'm just really not liking the Chinese stuff currently......

I am certainly not belittling you, not my style, never has been. I was sharing a story of a guy I knew that did just that. He filled his marauder pistol up and instead of first bleeding off the air he disconnected the fitting off of the gun and that whip flew off his hands and punctured the sheet rock wall. I’ve had a QD fitting blow apart once, that scared the bejesus out of me. So I was just bringing up sample stories of mishaps I’ve read on these forums and mishaps I’ve witnessed myself. It is these types of stories that could goon the safety section, to help others.

And when I meant “help new guys” I was not referring to you, but to future pcp enthusiasts!

Maybe you have me mistaken for someone else?
