I know I'm nuts but the hatsan in 30 caliper

Your Talking about the Hercules Right?
Me and Joe shot one at the Texas Air Gun show, about the only thing that I had to complain about was the action of the cocking lever, It almost felt like it was full of grit or sand.
Accuracy was very impressive and it was quieter than the texan.

That being said as much as I hate to say this I have been trying to get ahold of Hatsan USA for the last two weeks and not only will they not answer the phone they have not answered any emails

Oh don't misunderstand me I loved shooting the gun,. it is very impressive compared to a 5 to 10 shot from the others.
Like I said though, for a 1400 msrp gun I would expect a much smoother action, I was not exaggerating when I said the action felt like it was full of grit.
But!?! If you cannot get a business office to answer the phone in two weeks and not call back nor respond to emails,. It is a little worrisome

It weighs as much as most of my air rifles plus a 30 or 45 minute scaba tank. It would be like walking around with a baby elephant on your back if you took one into the woods.

If I'm going to carry that much weight, I'd rather have a separate tank and a lighter rife. You can tether a lighter rifle to a tank when you are shooting from a bench (which is the only place you'd use a Hercules anyway) but then still have something manageable to carry into the woods when you hunt.

Evanix has some double bottle big bore guns with their electronic breach and battery and they are still much lighter than the Hercules. Imo, a double bottle gun has to use lighter carbon fiber tanks or it's just unmanageable.

To me, a big bore air gun is for hunting, not the bench. I'm a little surprised they sold one but I guess people have different needs.

"coonslayer"I don't know how much the hatsan cost, but the FX IMPACT will give you 50 consistent shots in .30 shooting 44grns. and i'm getting 70 shots in .25 And in my state 54ft lbs is enough power to kill anything the lives. i got 81ft lbs out of the .30 shooting 51grn JSB's.
And the Impact does it with one air bottle, plus, it is light enough to carry in the woods. And..... you could buy a second air bottle to take with you in case you needed 100 shots. everything non-organic is made better by making it out of carbon fiber!

I'd say that's VERY worrisome. Doesn't do a lot for a company's reputation and this is coming from a guy that owns 3 of their break barrels (4 if I count my Webley) and just got my 1st Hatsan PCP, a AT44S-10QE that fortunately is outstanding.....so far. Not brand new to PCPs tho, have a .22 Disco & .25 Gen2 Synrod. If I had a problem with my Hatsan and couldn't raise a response by phone or email for two weeks I would be VERY upset!

OK received in good shape. This thing is heavy. I have ordered a sling as well as the hose to hook it up to my compressor as it has a fill probe thingy and i will probably try to hunt with it with the sling but I have got to question how steady I am gonna be offhand. And zebra your preach-en to the coir on the fx impact. I received mine earlier this month in 25 cal. It was shot count in high calibers and the fact that there was only 1 in stock. And I wanted to believe. Would I recomend? Probaly not.

Maybe there is something you can do to lighten it up.

One of my earlier air guns is a Hatsan AT44 QE Tact. The weight of it drove me nuts and off-hand shooting was out of the question. Part of the issue was the adjustable stock. It added 2-3lb just for the length of pull.... Anyway, I made a new stock and it feels like a different gun.

Clearly the main issue on this one is the two metal bottles. Maybe you could replace the front one with a cf bottle. I was also wondering if it can be used with just one bottle? I'd want to find a way of connecting the bottles through a hose so I could carry them on my back...

For some reason, all Hatsan guns seem to be significantly heavier than their competition. It would do a lot for them if they worked on that. I'm all for avoiding extra cost by not re-inventing the wheel but if they are going to keep recycling that same action under different names, it's time for a lighter version.
