I have no words for the mishap with Fed-Ex today!

A few days ago I ordered something I’ve been after for a while. Since I moved, air supply has become scarce, and timing was right to order an air compressor from a reputable brand and a supplier I have good experience with.

Well of course I have been giddy as a school boy tracking the status of the package every day. Today was delivery day, and I had my eye on the front porch about every 30 minutes. Around 6 today I start getting nervous hoping he is just running late. I decide to check the status with the online tracker.

DELIVERED!!! NOOOOOOOOOOooooo

Where the hell is my package? I searched the front door.. nothing, the garage door.. nothing.. the garage.. nothing.. now I sweating.. I look in my pickup bed.. nothing.

I AM NOW STARTING TO FLIP OUT!!! I search everywhere over and over again... nothing... At this point I fear the worst 😟

I call Fed Ex and report that it wasn’t delivered. I don’t feel that they are taking my case serious enough. I decide to drive up and down the street looking for packages left at the front door.. I even drive around the block to a similar address as mine.. DENIED! it’s a French chateau with a gate at the end of the driveway!

Now I am starting to panic as I would if I lost my 5 year-old at the fair... I am trying to keep my composure, but I want to find it prior to whom ever has it and starts to open it and in turn goobers it up! I’m the guy with safe queens after all! I text my neighbors, and they don’t have it.

Who would even know what to do with a high pressure air compressor?

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I feel for you. I'm the same way. Hopefully the worst hasn't happened and it was stolen. Do you or your neighbors have cameras? If you're close to them, you might want to have them check.

Yeah... we are in a suburban meets rural neighborhood. The neighbors are just far enough away, but at the same time, close enough.

I’ve never had an issue like this with deliveries, and of course it happens with a $1k compressor. Why not with one of the 3-4 deliveries we get a week? To make things worse, now its starting to rain. I hope it’s under cover and un-opened where ever it is.

Ask your neighbors. They might have gotten it put some random place around their property. If you have a gate, look outside or anywhere around it. If you have a long driveway, you know the drill. If you have posts, the kind people put lights on -- check behind them. They can hide there pretty easily.

I have OFTEN!!!! seen Fed Ex and UPS and other services lie about giving me an item personally and/or getting a signature, or leaving it here or there. My mother cannot get deliveries anymore at her house; they leave it way down the hill out in the 100 degree sun. (Which by the way can easily destroy the seeds and other things I order which are labeled stuff like CAUTION: FOOD or TEMPERATURE SENSITIVE ITEMS. I've seen them leave boxes that are stove in or torn, etc. The quality of their hires is not always high.

For high value stuff, I re route the delivery to the local service counter. I can collect my packages at 10 a.m. instead of waiting until the 4-9p.m. delivery window that the driver has for my house. AND it won't be lost....

Sorry to hear about your stress. I have faith that it will work out for you. If not, charge it back against the credit card. No reason for you to take the kids.

That happens here a LOT. I mean a WHOLE LOT! The driver does a GPS scan on the package at delivery. They will be able to see that he didn't deliver it to your house. That doesn't mean they will get it back. Eventually the shipper will be able to file a claim and get reimbursed, but who has time for that? Hopefully you paid for it using a good credit card. I only use Amex. One call and they will take care of you. Then you can order another compressor.

Hopefully whoever got it will notify you.

About 2 years ago I sat by the window waiting for the delivery of my A-V compressor. I knew the date and approximate time of the anticipated delivery based on the tracking updates on FED-EX's site. At around 12:30 PM, I watched as 2 FED-EX employees delivered a large box (my compressor) to a neighbor's house. They were nice enough to place the compressor in the neighbor's garage.

I went back to Fed-EX tracking site and the status showed my compressor as "delivered".😫 Whaat!!!?? It sure as heck wasn't delivered to me. My neighbor's street address is "198 xxx xxxx". My address is "189 xxx xxx." This wasn't too hard for me to figure out, so I took my dolly, walked across the street and collected my compressor.

I never reported the 2 dyslexic Fed EX men to their employer.

Similar things have happened to me. ...ups and USPS seem to be the worst. Often get the "delivered" ping but does not show up until the next day. I dunno...my paranoidistic mind thinks the driver scans as delivered when they are running behind in order to maintain "metrics". It is then delivered next day as they scramble back to their normal schedule.

Just my opinion 😁

I never had an issue with fedex until I moved a year ago. They won’t bring packages to my house and throw them in the bar ditch at the county road 1/2 mile away. It’s a nice big paved road. So my neighbors and I pick up packages from fedex and make the final leg of the delivery. I have even left specific delivery instructions on the fedex account I have to absolutely not to leave my packages on the county road and to deliver at my house. This week I got two packages delivered from fedex on the same day. One was in the bar ditch on one side of the road and the other was in the bar ditch on the other side of the road? So far nothing has been stolen. UPS brings it right to your door. Heck the UPS guy picks up the neighborhood dogs to ride with him. The UPS guy and the dogs all come to the door to deliver the packages, they all load back up in the UPS truck, and he drops the dogs off back at their houses on the way out. All of our mailboxes are at the county road and USPS also left packages, that didn’t fit in the mailbox, at the county road. We complained so USPS now takes packages back to the post office for us to pick up. It Green Acres type stuff out here.

Keep us posted, and thanks for making me think. I did just make an order from a very reputable small seller who only takes checks. I think I'll call his wife and tell her I would like to pay a few bucks extra to have my package sent restricted delivery so that one, it requires a signature, and two, I am the only one who can sign for it, I.D. required.

Added: @Brazos Dang! I just read that and had to click on your profile. I knew you had to be here in Texas somewhere! 😅

Aloha,

I know what your going through, I bought my house a couple of years ago and not knowing the neighbor's or neighborhood I installed a security camera system from costco (nightowl) well I bought a AAA slayer and after waiting a looong time for the gun I finally got a confirmation shipping number, I was tracking it and the day it was out for delivery I was so excited, then the text came through "delivered" I called my wife to see and she said nothing was delivered, puzzled I left work and came home, yikes!!! nothing, I checked with all of my neighbors, nothing. I went back home and checked the security camera footage, the FedEx truck drove right past my house. Being that it was a Friday and past 6pm when I called the FedEx office I only got the voicemail. I had to wait until Monday, that was the longest weekend ever. Monday came and I called the FedEx office, they said it shows that the package was delivered on Friday at 3:10 pm, I told the girl on the phone that I didn't receive it, they kept saying that it was delivered and I would have to file with the police for a stolen package, I told the girl that the driver didn't even stop at my house, he just drove by. Well after I kept insisting that the package was not delivered and I have video showing the driver didn't stop, her tone of voice changed, I told her I will drive down to the FedEx office and show them the video, I drove down to the office, showed the manager the video. The manager said he will speak to the driver that was on that route Friday, he said it wasn't the normal delivery driver. Well after 2 days I received a call from the manager saying that they have my package, I went down to the FedEx office and picked up my package, the box looked like it was re-taped, I opened the box in front of the manager to check for damages or missing parts but it was all there and no damage, I asked the manager what happened and all he could say is that the driver that supposed to have delivered the box is no longer with FedEx, I am so glad to have gotten the security camera system.

To the OP, I hope you get your package you paid for, WE work hard for what we buy. Sorry for the long story but reading your post brought up the memory of that bad experience I went through.

Aloha,

Keone

What usually happens is the driver is running late, sees where you live on the map and just puts it in the system as "delivered" because it will be flagged if he doesn't "deliver" that day. Then the next day when he isn't running quite so late, he actually delivers it. They must think we don't look in the tracking and see that it shows as being "out for delivery that day". I've thought about turning them in but never have.

It will show up tomorrow.

@kaeokini , My assistant has that issue with USPS regularly. We put HD cams all over her house as a Christmas present it has saved her many times. She continually sends video of USPS never stopping, yet they say they attempted delivery. I love my cams. Glad you got your toy recovered.

@30harry , An acquaintance from USPS says that many drivers scan the parcels as they load them on the truck. They're not supposed to do that, but you can't fire them unless they steal and they know it.

30harry has it. this has happened several times to me. i get a text saying it was delivered, but nothing on the porch. the next day it appears.

for about a year now we've had a large sign on the door stating "ALL DELIVERIES RING BELL", so far only once did a driver ring the bell. our last Amazon delivery sent a text with a picture of the 2 items on our porch. that's the way to do it.
