I finally did it, no turning back now...

So, up until now, I have never touched factory setting on any of my guns, and so now, having added a .30 cal barrel on my FX DreamTac, I adjusted the reg, then turned the hammer spring in to near max. I had it where i wanted it, at 875 fps, then it dropped down to 825 shooting the JSB Exacts 44.75.

It is shooting consistent 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards. But I want 875 fps, like Steve at AEAC recommends, and I had it there for a couple of shots, but then it dropped...

What have I done?... What am I becoming?...

It's a slippery slope that can lead down into the depths of PCP hell!

Try as I might, I've never been able to repeat the performance that many have got out of their Hatsan BT65SB's. I've seen a bunch of chrono info showing these pushing 21gr baracuda match to around 1000fps while still getting over 20 usable shots per fill.

I did the single hole valve mod, opened the transfer port and matched the barrel port to it. Slightly reduced the probe diameter to allow the air to pass by with less restriction. After not getting the the results I wanted, I decided to concentrate on accuracy instead. Then I figured out that the barrel I had sucked! I messed with that for a while, slugging and polishing until I got to the point where the barrel bore slugged smoothly but the bore opened up the last 1/3 before the choke (made that way not my polishing). A replacement barrel from hatsan and THEN a Lothar Walther and I'm finally getting the accuracy I was expecting.

I now can't decide if I'm going to get something else or stick with this, because of all the time I've already put into it, and get a bullpup stock. Ohh and no one makes one for the QE BT65 so I'd need to modify the barrel bands / scope rail bracket if I did get one for the non QE BT65.

And I wondered why it's called 'coming to the dark side' when you buy a PCP!

Bring it up here and we can turn all the adjustments wildly and see what we get. I hope your sense of humor is good today.

LOL, and if it doesn't work out, we'll drink wine...

Good Idea Boss! Thanks for the sense of humor. I've 'been there and done that' with regulators and hammer springs going in circles with my Artemis(s) PP700sa.

You'll get it dialed In, fo sho.
