I don't think this will work

I saw this ad in the local craigslist. Seems this guy wants a hunting permission but I don't think he's going about it the right way. He's only charging $120 for 8 hours of shooting pests?

That's strange.

I thought it was mutually accepted that it is "free" for both parties. Farmer or land owner gets a free service to rid pests and does not charge; and shooter gets to shoot pests for no charge to the farmer. Win/Win right?

This was my understanding, but I have not had to ask for a permission in my environment either, so I am not 100% certain either.

Some people will think of a way to try and make money for anything I guess.

He's using a Ruger break barrel ?

Here's the text in the message:

Do you have to many pests on your farm, business or other property? I am proficient in exterminating outdoor pests with my very specialized pellet rifle. I can take down cayotes, rabbits, or just about any other pests. Im easy to reach out to and I will create a speedy time to come by and kill all(or most) of your uninvited guests. Thank for your time and it will be my honor to help you rid your rodent problems. As en excellent shot I can hit a rodent 1st try at 25-50 yards.i usually charge $300 for heavy infestations, which people like ordinary cannot handle but I now charge $120 for an 8 hour work day

If I put a add up or asked a Dairy farmer or Beef farmer for money to get rid of coyotes I’d be laughed at, folks out here do it for free just to get the chance to shoot plus get some pelts and maybe get a opportunity to deer hunt the farmers property in the fall, plus the farmer will more then likely let you keep coming back to shoot yotes If they believe your ok.

If he's license for pest removal I can see him charging a fee. But a Ruger break-barrel don't seem like the right equipment. First of all how many rats , yotes and other pest will he get during the daytime? I have a hard time thinking he has a night sight set-up if his main gun is a $120 break barrel from Walmart.

Don’t knock the man for trying. People are always looking to down play someone or look down upon a person. The guy is minding his own business so leave him be! At least he is going about the right way. So what if he charges it’s up to whom ever to accept his offer or not. Last time I checked a break barrel would very much get the job done. It’s about shot placement anyways and the guy stated he can take out the pest with one shot out to 50.

The world would be a better place if people would just keep their nose on their face instead of letting it wander! Just my .02

So you are aware of a 15 fpe break-barrel killing a yote? I said I didn't think it would work but if he can get some business more power to him. It seems that you are just as clueless as he is about getting rid of pest with an airgun. Just my 02.

There’s a post here with a video of a man and woman who killed a whole pack with a break barrel. I didn’t believe it either but who the hell knows until you actually try it. You can argue with them on it. Thanks buddy
