I am hooked, need to be able to shoot more per fill, thinking about FX Wildcat

"k_h_d"
I dove in and ordered a Wildcat .22, FX 6-18x44 scope, and an Omega 100cu ft 4500 psi tank.

I decided that if I needed the .25 knockdown power that I would use the marauder if the .22 wildcat was not enough. I wanted to get the highest shot count I could for target shooting.

I should be able to test it out next weekend.
Good choice! You'll love the ergonomics of the Wildcat. Keeping eyes on target is important. A high scope mount is common to get a sight through the scope. Since your ordering from AOA, I highly recommend having them add a picatinny to the stock. Have Fun!

Congrats on ordering a new Wildcat! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

Filling to 230 bar, I'm getting 8 mags/64 consistent shots @ 890-905 FPS for about 32 FPE.

You're gonna love the short, light, compact build of the Wildcat and the side lever is super sweet. So easy to grab, point, shoot. My favorite way to shoot it is standing and bracing or leaning my forward hand on something like a tree, a post, a cracked-open doorwall etc. No squirrel is safe out to 50 yards when shooting the Wildcat this way.

Make sure to get a lot of pellets and a couple extra mags! They love JSB 18 grain.

One of two ground hogs taken last summer @65 yds with the Wildcat. JSB 18. Standing bracing against door jamb.

"CHUCK"Whatever the .22 can do the .25 can do better. I have the Wildcat & Streamline...both in .25, but I have many friends that bought .22 and later regretted it and wished they had bought .25.

I am sure that's true for hunting. And I am also sure I'll end up owning both. But for target shooting on my property and know the .22 will make more sense to get more lead on targets.

My .25 marauder can handle any hunting the 22 wildcat can't do.

Which moderator do you have?

i bought a couple cans of 18grain JSB pellets with the gun.

I got the wildcat along with an FX 6-18x44 scope and shot about 120 rounds through it today.

Shoots great, very accurate. Shot to 45 yards and it easily had groups that ended up being one big hole.

Will be plenty powerful for small game with pinpoint accuracy, but it's noticeably less power than my .25 Marauder. I have a 22 rimfire metal target that flips up when hit and the wildcat just barely has enough power at 45 yards to flip the targets up if they are hit at the bottom of the target giving more leverage.

The .25 marauder smacks them so hard they flip up very hard even at 65-70 yards.

Glad I went with the .22 for the excellent shot count. The .25 marauder will still be used if I am shooting at animals larger than squirrels.

I bought a Marauder a couple months ago. I went with the .25 caliber as I have had .22 cal break barrel guns and wanted to go slightly bigger.

I have been shooting at this target ) and for some silly reason the loud clang of the pellet and then the metal resetting is very satisfying.

So, I need to get a gun that will have more shots per fill, and I am thinking of an FX Wildcat. I am pretty set on .25 caliber as it is suppose to get 60 shots, which is only 10 less than the .22 caliber version. Anybody have a strong compelling reason to get the .22 over the .25?

I have an Air Venturi 4500 psi 90 Cu in tank with a 2900 psi regulator on it. Will that 2900 psi be enough to fill the Wildcat? Or does it take a higher fill pressure to get the claimed 60 shots?

Today, I bought a FX Wildcat .25 from AoA. Watched many YouTube videos on both the .22 and the .25 Wildcats.I was real close to dropping a dime on the FX Streamline or the FX Royale, but the Wildcat drew me like a magnet.I already have a Shoebox High Pressure Compressor and a 66 cu.in. 4500 psi carbon tank that I bought from Joe Brancato back in 2012 (for my 2 Marauders), and man it sure is nice not having to use a hand pump. I’ll be using the carbon tank on the Wildcat, too.I waffled between a .22 FX Wildcat and a .25 FX Wildcat. But, since I already have a .22 Mrod, I decided to add a .25 Wildcat to my stable. For pellets, I’ve ordered some JSB Match Diablo Exact King 25.39 gr Domed pellets. I’ve read that they perform really well in the .25 Wildcat. If you can recommend any others, I’d appreciate it.I’m looking forward to getting the Wildcat – It’ll be my first bullpup rifle of any kind. AoA said to expect it in 3 days – or was it that it would ship in 3 days, can’t remember, doesn’t matter, because I retired and home all the time to sign for it.

Oh, and I have one of the swinging targets, too. I enjoy mine, also. The .177 Mrod just rings it, but the .22 Mrod, with a heavy pellet can spin it. I bet that .25 Wildcat will really make it orbit.

"k_h_d"Since you have a 22 Mrod you made a great choice going 25 with the wildcat. I really like the 22 wildcat. It gets a ton of shots per fill and is very accurate. My 25 mrod has the higher FPE when I need it.

I think you will be pretty amazed at the power difference from 22 to 25.
Yep, I didn't think it wise to buy another .22 PCP. I'm looking forward to shooting/chronying the 25 Wildcat.

Did you get any kind of silencer with your 25 Wildcat? I didn't.

When I bought my Gen 1 .22 Marauder back in 2012, I bought a hand pump to go with it. But with me being a one-leg amputee, I found it real difficult to STAND over hand pump and pump it, what seemed like a kazillion times, to fill the Mrod directly.

So, I did some online research and discovered a guy named Joe Brancato (airtanksforsale.com) and called him up. He was very knowledgeable (and even took the time to talk to me) and set me up with a "Shoebox" compressor, a 66 cu.ft. CF (carbon fiber, not steel) tank that can be pressurized to 4500 psi (it is not a scuba tank) and the hoses / fittings to go with it.

To make a long story short, as far as I am concerned, that $$$ was $$$ well spent. For those who don't know about a Shoebox compressor - here's how it works: First, you have connect a regular compressor (at 85 psi) to the Shoebox compressor. Then, you connect the Shoebox compressor to the carbon fiber tank and then turn on both the Shoebox and the regular compressors. It took quite a few hours, but the next thing I know, the CF tank was at 4500 psi. The Shoebox can be set to turn off automatically when the CF tank hits 4500 psi - but I was enjoying seeing the CF tank get pressurized, so I was checking all the time to see how fast it was filling the CF tank.

I use the 66 cu.ft. CF tank to charge my Mrods (I now have two, a .177 and the .22) and it is done in a snap - I sold the hand pump.

BTW, today I revisited Joe's web site and saw a type of high pressure compressor that wasn't there back 4 years ago. It is an ALPHA90 PCP COMPRESSOR and if I had it to do over again (or when my Shoebox dies), I'd get that one, because it doesn't need a "pusher" compressor like my Shoebox does.

Take care,
Bobby
