Tuning Hy Score 800 pops open

My lightly used Hy Score 800 pistol has an issue where the action pops partly open and closed again when fired. It almost feels like a semi auto cycling when fired. It has also intermittently stayed unlatched after it pops open. Has anyone else had this issue and resolved it? Initial inspection hasn't revealed anything specific to me. All the springs seem to have good tension. The large coilspring in the grip looks good. I took it out and tried to stretch it but it's very stiff. I don't suspect it. And the dual springs on the latch seem ok as well. Although if they are weak I can imagine that could possibly allow the latch to open under recoil. Thank you

KWK,

Here is my Hy-Score 800C Target Model. Is this the type of pistol you're talking about? To be honest, I can't understand what it is you're describing. Referring to the picture, lets agree to call the chrome part, the barrel, and the handle/trigger, the action. Now, if you can describe again the issue, I'll do my best to follow.

KWK,

Sorry, couldn't be of service, only thing to add is sometimes, after firing, the barrel will pop up, just as if I'd used the button to accomplish the same thing, in order to re-cock gun. After re-cocking, barrel re-attaches to action, as appropriate, for firing.

I suggest searching AGN SEARCH for videos done by member, SepticDeath. He made one earlier this year on two Hy-Score pistols, very interesting and informative. On YouTube, he goes by Gold Touch, I think, and displays same videos. One Hy-Score pistol has single load, like mine, while other one a multi-load system.

Best of Luck and Happy Holidays,

WM

#756 lock springs could be stretched to increase the preload on the left and right locks but I don't want to invest any time in this gun. Takes more work to get those springs out than I want to invest. Cute gun but I don't enjoy shooting it much. I'll try stretching #753, striker spring since it applies pressure against the locks #734 and #725 when the gun is cocked and latched closed. Pretty stiff spring it won't stretch easily.

I should have put this in "PISTOLS"

KWK,

My model was manufactured from 1948-1961, so kind of an old timer, like me. As a young teen, I used to visit retired missionaries with my family on Sunday afternoons, at a nearby rest home. One day, I saw this gun on a table and was just amazed by it. I guess the old missionary must have seen that look in my eye, because, as we started to leave, he turned to me, handing me the gun, saying, "I hope you enjoy it as much as I did." Wasn't that a fine example of human kindness? So, as you can see, it will always be my special treasure, well cared for and loved. Still works great and is a real shooter, however, she'll retire to a place of honor when the time comes. Best to You and Yours this Holiday Season,
